WordPress Developer (Elementor, WooCommerce, SEO & Performance Optimization) – Remote

About the Role

At Pavago, we’re hiring a skilled WordPress Developer for one of our clients to build, optimize, and maintain modern, responsive, and high-performing WordPress websites.

This is a hands-on development role for someone who combines strong WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills with an understanding of website performance, SEO, user experience, and conversion-focused design.

You’ll work across website builds, landing pages, WooCommerce functionality, performance optimization, plugin integrations, security, and ongoing maintenance while collaborating with marketing, design, and content teams.

What You’ll Own

WordPress Development

  • Build and customize WordPress websites using:
    • Elementor
    • Divi
    • WPBakery
    • Custom themes
  • Develop landing pages, blogs, marketing websites, business websites, and WooCommerce stores.
  • Create reusable templates and scalable page structures.
  • Build and maintain custom and child themes.
  • Customize functionality using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Ensure websites are structured for long-term scalability and easy maintenance.

Frontend Development & User Experience

  • Convert Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch designs into responsive WordPress pages.
  • Build polished layouts across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive behavior.
  • Follow accessibility and modern UX best practices.
  • Improve site navigation, usability, and overall customer experience.
  • Build conversion-focused pages that support marketing and business objectives.

Website Performance & Core Web Vitals

  • Optimize websites for speed and performance.
  • Improve Core Web Vitals and Lighthouse scores.
  • Implement:
    • Caching
    • Lazy loading
    • Image compression
    • Code minification
    • CDN integrations
  • Run performance audits using:
    • Google Lighthouse
    • GTmetrix
    • PageSpeed Insights
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across plugins, themes, scripts, and hosting environments.

SEO Optimization

  • Implement technical and on-page SEO best practices.
  • Configure and manage tools such as:
    • Yoast SEO
    • Rank Math
  • Optimize metadata, heading structures, images, URLs, and internal site structure.
  • Support schema implementation and structured data.
  • Collaborate with marketing and content teams on SEO-focused improvements.
  • Ensure website updates do not negatively affect search visibility or performance.

WooCommerce, Plugins & Integrations

  • Install, configure, and customize WordPress plugins.
  • Support WooCommerce stores and e-commerce functionality.
  • Work with plugins such as:
    • Elementor Pro
    • Contact Form 7
    • Yoast SEO
    • Membership plugins
  • Troubleshoot plugin conflicts and compatibility issues.
  • Extend plugin or website functionality using PHP when required.
  • Integrate third-party marketing, CRM, analytics, and business tools.

Security & Website Maintenance

  • Manage WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates.
  • Implement security best practices using tools such as Wordfence, Sucuri, or iThemes Security.
  • Configure backups, staging environments, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Monitor website health and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot bugs, broken layouts, hosting issues, and technical errors.
  • Maintain stable and secure production environments.

Collaboration & Deployment

  • Work closely with marketing, design, content, and development teams.
  • Support landing pages and website updates for marketing campaigns.
  • Provide CMS support to non-technical team members.
  • Test changes before production deployment.
  • Push updates through staging and deployment workflows.
  • Maintain organized documentation and development processes.

  • Strong proficiency with:

  • Hands-on experience with Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, or similar page builders.
  • Experience with custom themes and child themes.
  • Strong understanding of responsive and mobile-first development.
  • Experience with website speed and Core Web Vitals optimization.
  • Understanding of technical and on-page SEO.
  • Experience managing hosting environments such as:
    • WP Engine
    • SiteGround
    • Kinsta
    • cPanel
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities.
  • Ability to work during U.S. client business hours.

Nice to Have

  • WooCommerce development and customization experience.
  • Experience building or modifying custom WordPress plugins.
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience managing staging and production environments.
  • Experience with APIs, CRM integrations, or marketing automation tools.
  • Background supporting SaaS companies, agencies, e-commerce brands, or marketing teams.
  • Understanding of conversion rate optimization (CRO).

Your day may include:

  • Reviewing website support requests and technical issues.
  • Building a new landing page from a Figma design.
  • Customizing WordPress themes or functionality.

  • Troubleshooting plugin conflicts or responsive layout issues.
  • Supporting a marketing campaign or website launch.
  • Implementing SEO improvements.
  • Applying WordPress, plugin, and security updates.
  • Testing changes within a staging environment.
  • Deploying approved updates to production.
