Brown and Caldwell (BC) has an exciting opportunity to join our growing Water Reuse Practice as a Regional Practice Leader (RPL). Help us expand and align our Direct Potable Reuse (DPR), Indirect Potable Reuse (IPR), and Non-Potable Reuse capabilities to meet increasing client needs across the West. As an employee‑owner, you will help shape and advance the future of reuse in support of resilient water supplies, balancing growth leadership with oversight of quality, risk, and profitability. 

This role is a strategic account leader responsible for defining and advancing multi-year growth strategies for priority clients. This role shapes client vision, aligns enterprise resources, and drives sustained revenue growth across service lines and markets. Moreover, this role reflects consistent success in advancing long-term client relationships, leading high-performing Client Service Teams (CSTs), shaping growth strategy, winning complex pursuits, and delivering high-quality, profitable programs. 

This role will translate client and market intelligence into actionable strategy, align multidisciplinary teams around a defined future state, and position BC as a trusted advisor. This role sets the tone and direction for the CST, clearly articulating and advancing a multi-year client vision aligned with Area and Market leadership priorities.

The Reuse RPL partners closely with the National Practice Leader (NPL) and Area Practice Leaders (APLs) to shape and execute the regional strategy. This role focuses on developing talent, strengthening capabilities, supporting key pursuits, and aligning the practice with BC’s strategic goals. Core focus areas include:

  • Aligning regional reuse strategy with BU and national priorities and evolving market trends.
  • Building and strengthening the team through targeted staffing, development, and recruitment.
  • Collaborating across regions, mentoring APLs, and fostering knowledge sharing.
  • Elevating BC’s visibility through industry engagement and thought leadership.
  • Identifying growth opportunities, advancing pursuits, and aligning resources effectively.
  • Providing technical leadership to support project delivery and drive innovation.

      Remote work from within the United States is allowed.  

      Responsibilities

      • Align practice performance outcomes with Business Unit leaders, including Business Unit Managers and Area Leaders/Market Sector Directors, at least quarterly. 
      • Lead development and execution of the strategic growth plan for the Practice within the Business Unit, including 1-, 3-, and 5-year milestones, that defines strategy and tactics with measurable outcomes for winning and delivering profitable work with quality. 
      • Lead development and communication of the practice strategy and priorities to the CSTs, supported by National Practice, research and market intelligence.
      • Win new work as Sales Leader and/or Technical Seller that supports practice and Business Unit growth. 
      • Provide technical leadership of the practice portfolio of projects and pursuits to achieve BC business performance goals and client outcomes; serve on CST for aligned Type I and Type II clients. 
      • Build and lead a high-performing team through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability including sales, project portfolio profitability, and utilization targets. 
      • Lead practice planning within the Business Unit for staffing, revenue expectations, and resource allocation across the portfolio, seeking input and support from the National Practice. 
      • Engage practice leadership for alignment of market trends, research and innovation with client needs.
      • Engage enterprise technical SMEs and delivery leaders to integrate BC capabilities across the client organizations. 
      • Oversee workload planning, performance management, and team operations to align resources with business objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. 
      • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

      Skills and Competencies

      • Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and advance sales opportunities using BC’s Plan to Win (PTW) process.
      • Advanced knowledge of practice leadership, business operations, and financial principles.
      • Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to guide complex projects and pursuits.
      • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, resource planning, utilization management, and profitability oversight.
      • Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to drive practice growth and business objectives.
      • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, accountability, and team development.
      • Strong collaboration and influence skills across business, technical, and delivery functions.
      • Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and attention-to-detail skills.
      • Advanced presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

      Experience

      • Typically, a minimum of 15 years’ experience in increasing responsibility roles including technical, operational, practice, or business leadership experience.
      • Experience in environmental consulting, engineering, construction and operations industry.
      • Experience in annual business planning, strategy development, workforce planning, staffing, revenue forecasting, and implementation.
      • Experience developing and executing practice, market, or technical growth strategies with measurable outcomes.
      • Experience building and leading high-performing teams, including coaching, performance management, utilization planning, and resource allocation.

      Preferred Experience

      • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
      • Increasingly responsible experience in water reuse.
      • Experience with reuse planning, advanced treatment design, pilot/full‑scale treatment systems, and regulatory frameworks. 

      Education

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management, science, or equivalent experience required.

      Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.  

      Location A: $159,000 - $238,000
      Location B: $175,000 - $262,000
      Location C: $191,000 - $285,000
