Asset Management – Hedge Fund Portfolio Manager – Executive Director
JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Executive Director and Hedge Fund Portfolio Manager within J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management (JPMAAM) on the Institutional Hedge Fund Solutions (IHFS) team, you will serve as a senior client advisor and portfolio lead for discretionary and advisory hedge fund mandates for J.P. Morgan Private Bank clients across EMEA and Asia. Partnering closely with the Private Bank and the broader JPMAAM platform, you will be responsible for originating business opportunities and implementing and managing hedge fund portfolios for clients and servicing these clients over time.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive asset growth in customized hedge fund portfolios; build pipeline, showcase our capabilities, and win new mandates through direct engagement with clients and prospects, partnering with Private Bank advisors.
- Implement, manage and oversee a client book of hedge fund portfolios.
- Develop and run client proposals end-to-end, tailoring portfolio solutions to client investment objectives.
- Lead client portfolio reviews; present performance drivers, attribution, risks and provide clear recommendations.
- Execute portfolio rebalances and re-positionings within portfolio constraints and objectives; be ready to present and explain individual portfolio characteristics during regular risk and IC reviews.
- Respond promptly to client requests with actionable insight, commentary, and bespoke analyses.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting, presentations and client materials.
- Partner closely with the broader JPMAAM platform, portfolio managers, research analysts, due diligence, and risk, to integrate top‑down and bottom‑up insights and convictions into the client experience and within portfolios.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Extensive experience within the hedge funds allocation space (research analyst, portfolio manager, IR).
- Deep knowledge of hedge fund strategies and ability to explain these and bring them to life with internal partners and clients.
- Ability to grasp complex concepts and explain them to others.
- Outstanding work ethic and commitment to success.
- Commercial mindset and client relationship management experience. Ability to originate opportunities, shape proposals, and drive business opportunities in partnership with Private Bank advisors.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with portfolio analytics tools.
- Operating excellence: accuracy, timeliness, documentation rigor, controls, and adherence to regulatory and firm policies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build strong relationships and a team player
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Language: Fluency in English; business level Mandarin strongly preferred. Additional EMEA /Asia languages are a plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CFA/CAIA preferred.
- Location and mobility: Geneva-based with willingness to travel; openness to relocation to Asia within a few years.
