Job Summary: 

At PwC our Consulting professionals from Physical Product Development & Manufacturing (PPDM) team partner with clients across diverse industries to address critical business challenges and drive transformation in how products are designed, engineered, and manufactured. The team delivers impact through strategic advisory and implementation services in the areas of Connected Physical Products, Digital Engineering, Product Development Excellence, Digital Manufacturing and Manufacturing Excellence - enabling organizations to design, develop, manufacture, and optimize products more efficiently across the entire product lifecycle. 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate with Mechanical Engineering background to join our Connected Products Team, responsible for the design, development, validation, and launch of innovative connected hardware products across product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical product development, consumer electronics, IoT devices, smart products, and high-volume manufacturing.  

Position Requirements: 

Candidates should demonstrate substantial experience and / or knowledge in one or more of the following areas 

Product Design & Engineering 

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for connected products from concept through production.  

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and product documentation.  

• Drive design reviews, tolerance analyses, and engineering change management.  

• Proven skills in product design, material selection, and tolerance analysis.  

• Deep knowledge in one or more of the following: advanced surfacing, plastic injection molding, castings, sheet metal design, additive manufacturing, rechargeable battery integration, mechanisms, IP-rated designs, tooling, audio systems, sensors, and cameras.  

• Expertise with one or more CAD platforms (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Creo).  

• Adept in engineering simulation and analysis methods, including structural, thermal, vibration, drop, and optical analysis. 

Product Development & Cross-Functional Execution 

• Broad understanding of the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including timeline estimation, product execution, risk assessment, and mitigation planning.  

• Partner with Product Management, Electrical Engineering, Firmware, Software, Industrial Design, Quality, and Manufacturing and Supply chain teams to deliver integrated product solutions.  

• Broad understanding of product execution across ID, EE, ME/PD, and FW, including design intent, product cost, manufacturing cost, and factory operations.  

Validation, Testing & Problem Solving 

• Develop prototypes and support design verification, validation, and reliability testing.  

• Conduct failure investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.  

• Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.  

• Ensure products meet performance, quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.  

Manufacturing & Product Launch 

• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost optimization initiatives.  

• Lead and support NPI activities, factory builds, production ramp-up, and issue resolution for high-volume connected products, ensuring successful product launches that meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives. 

• Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize PDM and PLM tools (e.g., TeamCenter, Windchill, Agile, Arena, PDMWorks).  

• Experience delivering consumer electronics products using OEM, JDM, and ODM development models. 

 

Leadership & Continuous Improvement 

• Mentor associates and share engineering best practices.  

• Contribute to process improvements, innovation initiatives, and continuous enhancement of product development methodologies.

• Analytical and data interpretation capabilities to assess large, complex datasets, benchmark performance, and generate insights that drive decision-making. 

• Proven ability to lead project workstreams, provide oversight, delegate effectively, and deliver high-quality output with minimal supervision. 

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and build confidence in client interactions. 

• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with leadership to manage engagements, coordinate stakeholders, and support the delivery of strategic transformation programs. 

• Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers, suppliers, manufacturing partners, and cross-functional stakeholders. 

• Comfort with ambiguity and change, showing adaptability, initiative, and a proactive approach in dynamic project environments. 

• Growth mindset with self-awareness, openness to feedback, and continuous learning orientation. 

Qualifications: 

Educational Background: 

• Masters/ bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering 

• Experience with mobile battery powered devices 

• Experience in a range of roles selected from: Product Development, R&D, Operations, DfX, Manufacturing 

• Senior Associate: 7-10 years of Industry experience 

Preferred Industry Experience: 

Experience in Consumer Markets, Industrial Products, Technology, Telecommunications, Pharma & Life Sciences, or related industries developing connected products and IoT solutions

What You Must Have

- Master's/ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering
- At least 4 years of experience
- Oral and written proficiency in English required
