Investment Policy Senior Analyst/Manager
Job Description
What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management is seeking an Investment Policy Analyst, reporting to the Investment Policy Director, to join our U.S. team with a specialized focus on Securitized Credit and Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs) alongside supporting the business’s other asset classes. This role will serve as a critical control function, ensuring investment activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal investment guidelines while supporting our growing securitized credit business.
What will you do?
Pre-Trade Compliance Monitoring
- Configure, monitor, and maintain pre-trade compliance alerts in relevant systems and applications applicable to securitized credit and CLO strategies
- Review and interpret complex investment guidelines for CLOs, structured credit mandates, and ERISA/40 Act compliant vehicles
- Provide real-time guidance to Portfolio Managers and traders on compliance with investment restrictions prior to trade execution
- Develop and code custom compliance rules in Charles River to address unique structured product characteristics and investment guidelines
- Proactively identify potential compliance issues and work with investment teams to prevent violations
- Support ‘other’ investment teams (including Europe) in monitoring and breach identification, investment guideline advisory, new fund onboarding and assistance with the overall management of the investment policy framework
Post-Trade Compliance & Oversight
- Monitor post-trade compliance alerts and investigate exceptions
- Manage breach resolution process, including root cause analysis, documentation, and client reporting. Coordinate with Operations and Portfolio Managers to correct errors and implement remediation plans
- Maintain comprehensive records of compliance exceptions, breaches, and resolutions
- Prepare regular compliance reporting for internal stakeholders and external clients
Policy Development & Maintenance
- Collaborate with Legal and Investment teams to draft and maintain investment policy documentation
- Stay current on regulatory developments affecting securitized credit (ERISA fiduciary rules, 40 Act diversification requirements, risk retention rules, etc.)
- Advise on regulatory implications of new product development and investment strategies
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of compliance procedures and controls
Technical & System Management
- Test and validate system changes, ensuring accuracy of compliance monitoring
- Partner with Technology and Data teams on system enhancements and data integrity issues
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to compliance monitoring systems
- Implement and assist in the maintenance of relevant third-party systems
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field required
- 3-5+ years of experience in investment compliance, operations, or related role within asset management
- Strong understanding of fixed income fundamentals, including:
- Bond mathematics, duration, yield curves, credit spreads
- Securitized products (CLOs, CMBS, RMBS, ABS) structures and characteristics
- Leveraged loan market mechanics and terminology
- Hands-on knowledge of regulatory frameworks including ERISA, SEC, Volcker and Investment Company Act of 1940
- Proficiency with Charles River Investment Management System
Nice-to-have
- CFA, CAIA, or progress toward completion preferred
- Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- SQL or database query experience

The expected salary range for this particular position is $85,000-$145,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
