Partner is seeking a high-caliber, entrepreneurial Technical Director to serve as a "Seller/Doer" leader for our Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) practice. This dual-focused leadership role requires a dynamic professional who can drive top-line revenue through strategic relationship management and client-facing advocacy, while simultaneously providing senior-level technical oversight, proposal scoping, and delivery excellence for complex asset management and building science portfolios. This leader will operate collaboratively with regional leaders and other service lines to identify internal workflow efficiencies, standard operating procedures, and cross-selling opportunities that optimize delivery and maximize practice group margins.

Preferred Locations Include

Dallas, TX and Targeting Gulf States

Responsibilities

Revenue Generation & Client Facing Leadership (The "Seller")

  • Pipeline Development: Identify, develop, and maintain a consistent pipeline of institutional clients, real estate owners, investors, occupiers, and operators.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proactively engage and align with other service lines (e.g., environmental, engineering, energy, ALTA/Zoning) to bundle services, build integrated solutions, and leverage internal relationship networks.
  • Relationship Management: Manage key account relationships, serving as a principal technical adviser to build long-term corporate credibility and trust.
  • Industry Presence: Develop a prominent presence within the Building Science and CRE consulting communities by attending industry conferences, tradeshows, and networking events.

Corporate Alignment & Technical Oversight (The "Doer")

  • Operational Workflow Optimization: Collaborate with operational and technology teams to review existing delivery processes, recommending pragmatic system adjustments and standardized workflows to reduce turnaround times and improve execution margins.
  • Corporate Integration: Navigate corporate reporting structures effectively, partnering with central tech teams (e.g., Fulcrum platform developers) to advocate for practice area software and platform enhancement needs.
  • Proposal & Scope Engineering: Lead the technical strategy for RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, crafting customized scopes of work, strategic technical approaches, and pricing frameworks.
  • Go/No-Go Leadership: Participate heavily in corporate Go/No-Go analyses for major practice opportunities to optimize resource utilization and win rates.
  • Project & Technical Advising: Explore complex client needs to deliver master-level technical expertise regarding facility condition assessments, building envelope solutions, MEP, accessibility/ADA, and structural forensics.
  • Quality Assurance & Mentorship: Provide high-level QA/QC reviews on complex reports, mentoring junior assessors and project managers to maintain practice-wide quality standards.
  • Billable Engagement: Maintain an active billability target (e.g., 30–50%) by executing high-profile consulting assessments, client-mandated reviews, or QA/QC functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Corporate & Matrix Collaboration: Strong record of working effectively across regional boundaries, technical service lines, and corporate corporate structures.
  • Workflow Optimization: Ability to analyze internal production bottlenecks and collaborate on systemic process improvements without requiring full top-down operational control.
  • Industry Network: Existing strategic relationships with major real estate brokers, equity investors, lenders, developers, or institutional asset managers.
  • Communication Mastery: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex building science data into strategic executive summaries for C-suite clients.
  • Building Science Domain Expertise: Exhaustive understanding of building component lifecycles, physical condition evaluations, replacement costs, and construction fundamentals.
  • Regulatory Fluency: Versed in the principles of structural/geotechnical engineering, building codes, ADA requirements, and Fair Housing regulations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or an Environmental Science discipline.
  • Licensure: Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) highly preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of blended experience across sales, project management, and senior technical leadership within the facility maintenance/management, real estate asset management, or condition assessment industry.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites or client meetings as needed.
