About the Role
The Culture & Engagement Manager is a senior expert role that forms part of the Talent and Organisational Effectiveness centre of expertise within the People Team . This role connects leadership intent and employee reality; championing the employee voice, improving the employee experience and using insight to shape and challenge how culture is experienced.
This role operates at all levels of the organisation and across multiple disciplines shaping narrative, surfacing insight and creating the conditions for culture to be owned, embedded and sustained across the organisation.
Strategy & Leadership
- Lead Culture & Engagement strategy for OTS; shaping its direction, coherence and connection to business objectives
- Connect business vision, strategy and values to the everyday employee experience. Own the Culture & Engagement narrative and products relating to wellbeing, listening and inclusion, embedding them across the organisation
- Create the human conditions for business strategy and transformation to land, embed and sustain
- Line manage the Culture & Engagement Senior Specialist
Insight & Challenge
- Ensure the employee voice is heard, respected and used to shape decisions.
- Bring together culture & engagement insight into a clear, honest picture of the people experience and report it regularly to senior leaders.
- Prepare insight for Board and People Committee updates, and enable proactive listening and engagement activity for the Designated Non-Executive Director (DNED) for workforce engagement.
- Champion the employee voice - surface where lived culture diverges from stated culture, hold leaders to account and close the feedback loop visibly
- Partner closely with the People Insights and Analytics Team to enable great insight and ensure appropriate data quality, process governance and critical metrics are tracked effectively (e.g. mandatory reporting for inclusion).
Partnering & Enabling
- Partner with the Strategy and Transformation teams to make sure culture, wellbeing and inclusion are built into transformation from the start, not retrofitted
- Work proactively across other centres of expertise to connect and align work - — talent, learning, reward, benefits, sustainability, health & safety.
- Maintain key stakeholder relationships acrossOcado Logistics, sharing best practice and enabling cross business area networks (e.g inclusion communities)
- Give leaders, managers and the People Team the tools, narratives, frameworks and education to carry culture consistently
- Support employee resource groups (ERGs) - including Wellbeing Champions, Values Stewardship Group and Listening Champion networks.Proactively work with community chairs and ERGs on inclusion and belonging.
Product & Delivery
- Own and manage listening, wellbeing and inclusion strategy and products (e.g. Peakon, EAP, Occupational Health, third party partnerships)Lead the team's use of AI to scale expertise, automate where it makes sense and deliver an accessible, high-quality service and greater value with cost consciousness in mind
- Own product foundations, measure ROI and make evidence-based investment decisions
About you
- Strong influencer who confidently advises and challenges senior leaders
- Data-driven storyteller, turning people insights into compelling business narratives. Proven experience connecting people experience insight into a clear people strategy
- Ideal to have previous experience working with AI or as a minimum, AI curious
- Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Applied experience in at least two of: listening & engagement, wellbeing, or inclusion
- Passionate about fairness, belonging and enabling people to thrive
- Collaborative, with the ability to connect teams and align priorities
- Strong project and programme management, balancing multiple priorities
- Confident working independently, navigating ambiguity and making sound decisions
- Well organised, with line management and delegation experience
- Proficient in MS Office or Google Workspace; Peakon experience desirable
