Role Summary

The QA Apprentice is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience in software quality assurance while contributing to the delivery of high-quality digital assessment products. Working under the guidance of experienced QA engineers, the apprentice will learn software testing principles, execute manual test cases, document defects, and gain exposure to modern development and testing practices within an Agile environment.

This role provides an opportunity to develop practical skills in software testing, collaboration, and quality engineering while supporting Pearson's Q-interactive platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute manual test cases for web and iPad applications under the guidance of senior QA engineers.
  • Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing during sprint and release cycles.
  • Document software defects clearly and accurately using defect tracking tools.
  • Assist in creating, reviewing, and maintaining test cases and test documentation.
  • Learn the functionality of Q-interactive assessments and related applications.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and support teams to understand requirements and expected behavior.
  • Assist with test data setup and execution of functional and exploratory testing.
  • Learn software quality best practices, accessibility fundamentals, and testing methodologies.
  • Continuously develop technical and professional skills through mentoring and structured learning.
Desired Skills
  • Recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of software development or software testing concepts.
