Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Manufacturing Unit Leader (MUL) is responsible for achieving the performance plan goals of one of the designated manufacturing units. The MUL guides the development and attainment of the overall Kingston Works business objectives. The role is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to deliver results on targeted Vision 3x30 goals within their designated manufacturing unit.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure EHS policies and procedures are aligned with the Novelis Safety System and 6S principles and adhered to enable attainment of safety objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and audit the effectiveness and compliance to control plans, standard operating procedures and failure modes and effects analysis to maximize gross & length recovery on all products run across the manufacturing unit.
  • Under the direction of the PPQ Leader, monitor all whole unit losses and claims generated/booked at the manufacturing unit and leads all interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve.
  • Meet or exceed quality and service requirements of customers.
  • Support value stream customer satisfaction and on-time, in-full objectives in all activities across the manufacturing unit.
  • Be the primary point of contact for all manufacturing unit unplanned downtime events with accountability to reduce unplanned downtime events and their duration.
  • Sponsor, lead and/ or direct all capital (and expense) activities at the manufacturing unit focused on capacity and productivity improvements to meet the site strategic business plan.
  • Meet annual and monthly budget guidelines and reporting status on a monthly basis.
  • Encourage and support employee involvement and development.
  • Coach team members in developing problem-solving, decision-making and team skills.
  • Lead a culture of accountability.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technical or manufacturing field
  • Experience in leading organizational changes.
  • Familiarity with principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple and changing priorities and make decisions using independent judgment under time constraints.

For this role, the annual salary ranges between $98,880 and $148,320. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance.

Location Profile

Novelis – Kingston Works is situated on the traditional homeland of the Haudenosaunee Anishinaabe and Huron-Wendat peoples. We thank them for their ongoing stewardship of this land where we are fortunate to work.

We are located on the eastern end of Lake Ontario an area famous for its historical significance and breathtaking 1000 islands views. Kingston is midway between Toronto and Montreal and home to three world class higher learning institutions and many historic sites. Here 300 employees cold roll finish and anneal aluminum used in automotive and specialty products for a wide array of customers in North America. Local residents and visitors enjoy Kingston’s Downtown District which is the gathering place for various events including the Kingston Buskers Rendezvous and the 1000 Islands Poker Run.
