We're builders who hold a high bar, move fast, and care deeply about each other and our customers.📌 About the RoleWe're hiring a Senior Engineer to own and evolve Scribe's billing platform, the system at the center of how Scribe makes money across 5M+ users and 600K+ organizations. You'll design and operate the infrastructure behind subscriptions, enterprise invoicing, pricing changes, and the subscription lifecycle, with real architectural headroom and a clear path toward entitlements and monetization systems as the role expands.🛠️ What You'll DoOwn and evolve Scribe's billing and subscription systemsDesign resilient, event-driven systems that stay correct under retries, partial outages, and race conditionsBuild and maintain reconciliation processes that Finance and leadership rely onImprove subscription lifecycle reliability, including renewals, plan changes, invoicing, and payment recoveryEnable safe pricing and packaging changes without compromising financial integrityShape the long-term architecture of the revenue platform as complexity scalesImprove system boundaries between billing, entitlements, and reporting to reduce coupling🔍 What We're Looking ForYou have 6+ years of software engineering experienceYou've built or maintained billing, payments, or other high-integrity financial systems in productionYou think in terms of guarantees: consistency, idempotency, reconciliation, durabilityYou're comfortable scoping ambiguous problems and driving them end to endYou're a strong backend engineer, ideally in Python and DjangoYou make sound architectural tradeoffs and are comfortable owning long-term system evolution✨ Nice to haveExperience supporting pricing or packaging changes in production systemsFamiliarity with enterprise invoicing workflows and sales-assisted purchasingExperience with SaaS tax compliance tools such as Anrok or AvalaraExperience partnering closely with Finance or Revenue Operations on reconciliation and reportingExperience working on entitlements or access control systems📍 LocationHybrid. Based in San Francisco. We work from the office 3 days per week.💰 CompensationSalary varies by location. All full-time employees receive equity in Scribe.
