Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Position Summary

The System enginer is the technical owner of a product or major development program, responsible for delivering system performance from concept through customer validation and release. The role bridges Product Line Management (PLC), Applications, and R&D disciplines to ensure that requirements are translated into an executable engineering plan, integrated into a coherent system solution, and successfully delivered to specification.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end system definition from marketing requirements through product delivery.
  • Translate business and customer requirements into detailed system and subsystem requirements.
  • Lead system architecture decisions and technical trade-off evaluations.
  • Serve as the system requirements gatekeeper and ensure consistency across disciplines.
  • Drive technical decision-making and maintain alignment between product goals and engineering execution. 

Product Delivery

  • Own the engineering development plan for the product.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary execution across System, HW, SW, Algorithms, Process, Applications, and Manufacturing.
  • Manage product integration, qualification, and readiness for alpha, beta, and customer releases.
  • Track progress, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions to meet program objectives.
  • Ensure the product meets performance, quality, and reliability specifications. 

System Integration & Validation

  • Plan and lead system integration activities across development teams.
  • Verify compliance with system requirements and customer expectations.
  • Define calibration flows and system verification approaches.
  • Support validation, qualification, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for complex technical and performance issues. 

Technical Risk Management

  • Identify technical risks early and drive mitigation plans.
  • Lead design reviews, risk reviews, and technical progress meetings.
  • Facilitate decision-making across disciplines when priorities or technical opinions diverge.
  • Own system-level issue resolution and escalation management.
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering and system-development processes. 

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary engineering interface to PLC, Applications, and Field support organizations.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define product direction and priorities.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, and decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support customer-facing discussions, beta-site activities, and field escalations when required. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in multidisciplinary R&D environments.
  • Proven experience leading complex system development programs.
  • Strong understanding of system engineering, architecture, integration, and qualification methodologies.
  • Experience working with Hardware, Software, Algorithms, Applications, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to drive execution and influence without direct authority.
