Case Assignment:The Surgery Center of Chevy Chase serves the specialties of general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, and urology. CRNAs and MDs have the opportunity to develop and improve skills in multi-model analgesia/ultrasound-guided techniques/ ERAs. The top three cases performed at this site include upper and lower orthopedic cases, spine (maximum 2 levels with no invasive lines), and plastics.Practice Model: Team-based model. Most commonly, medical supervision (MDs do 20% of their cases).Location Facts:Schedules Include:Monday-Friday (Thursday has 10 and 12 hour rooms)No CallArea Attractions:Near Washington, D.C.On the border of Bethesa and DC with the ability to enjoy both suburban and city lifeLocated close to major shops and diverse restaurants and attractionsRock Creek Park close byThe Patomic River20 minutes from the DC ZooResponsibilities:Assist in the directing and coordinating of Activities in the Anesthesia DepartmentResponsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical proceduresPre-anesthesia assessmentObtains and/or verifies patient consentDiscuss anesthetic options and risks with the patientInduction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesiaMonitoring of the patient's physiological conditionPerformance of clinical intervention as neededRequirements:M.D./D.O.
