As a Senior Tax Strategist – Small Business and Tax, you will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, prepare, submit, and manage tax statements and returns for businesses and clients, provide advice on financial and tax matters, and serve as a trusted business advisor to clients. This role requires in-depth knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations and a commitment to helping clients maximize engagement and achieve quality outcomes.

- Lead preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings, including corporate, partnership, personal, sales, and payroll tax returns
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations
- Develop and execute tax planning strategies to optimize tax positions and support business objectives
- Manage and mentor tax team members while overseeing preparation of federal income tax returns and supporting documentation
- Create and maintain annual tax calendars, coordinate deadlines, and align tax team priorities and deliverables
- Maintain strong internal controls and continuously improve tax processes, procedures, and efficiencies
- Manage IRS and state tax authority correspondence, audits, information requests, and regulatory compliance activities
- Monitor tax law and legislative changes, assess business impacts, and communicate recommendations to leadership
- Review quarterly and annual tax projections and provide insights to support financial planning and decision-making
- Analyze financial reports, ensure GAAP compliance, support accounting operations, and oversee reporting, reconciliations, and related tax strategies using accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and corporate or public accounting environments
- Strong background in federal, state, and local tax compliance across a variety of industries, including nonprofit and financial services
- Knowledge of estate planning, trusts, estate law, regulatory reporting, and tax-related financial strategies
- Proficiency with accounting and financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and related reporting tools, with experience preparing and analyzing financial statements
- Deep understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, securities regulations, and technical accounting standards, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data
- Strong analytical, budgeting, financial planning, and communication skills, including experience presenting financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership in a fast-paced environment
