Summary:

This is a full-time position within the Mechanical Engineering group. The Mechanical Engineering group supports all the Data Center product teams, such as AI/ML servers, storage, networking, racks, connectivity, and data centers. Each product team is responsible for building a specific piece of the infrastructure to connect people across the world. Meta supports this effort through the Open Compute Project (OCP), where we seek to make Internet connectivity available to all. Required Skills:

Mechanical Engineer, Infrastructure Responsibilities:

  1. Lead product specification, design, prototyping, and testing of devices and products for AI/ML server, storage, network systems, or rack & power, for use in communication devices and data centers
  1. Work closely with the TPM, hardware, thermal, manufacturing, software, supply chain, and outside partner teams to ensure that project goals and schedules are met
  1. Validate product performance against requirements from many internal customers using design and simulation tools
  1. Perform part and assembly-level tolerance analysis, motion and performance studies
  1. Quickly iterate through various design concepts, bringing them to life via fast prototyping that can be fabricated with assistance from our prototyping lab or suppliers
  1. Create test plans, design test equipment, and undertake testing procedures to verify design performance
  1. Create documentation and specifications suitable for prototyping, quoting, and production
  1. Work with ODM/JDM/CM partners through the design-for-manufacturing process and engineering verification stages required to move the product from prototype to production
  1. Understand different types of product packaging and the testing requirements
  1. Support our manufacturing partners by working on-site with their overseas design and manufacturing teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering or equivalent industry experience
  1. 6+ years of experience designing and shipping commercial or industrial products
  1. Proficient with 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as Creo or SolidWorks
  1. Experienced in analyzing and resolving issues cross-functionally
  1. Effective communication skills
  1. Experience creating engineering documentation such as product specifications, test reports, and manufacturing drawings

  1. Experience with a variety of electronic interconnection types and their various performance pros and cons
  1. 6+ years of experience in designing and shipping data center system equipment
  1. rack-level design experience is preferred
  1. Familiar with AI, server, storage, network, machine learning systems, rack & power
  1. Experience in designing and manufacturing sheetmetal enclosures, plastic, die cast, extrusion, and machined parts
  1. End-to-end experience from concept creation to deployment of a product
  1. Available for international and domestic travel, approximately 10% of work time
  1. Experience with owning a complete hardware system as a mechanical engineering lead
  1. Experience optimizing product designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for shock and vibration, thermal, and certification performance

Public Compensation:

$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
