Role Summary
As a senior leader in Rivian’s centralized Corporate and Business Development group, you will play the primary ownership role in strategic partnerships of all types -- including strategic commercial agreements, acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures -- and other meaningful external engagements that support Rivian’s mission and company goals. You will be responsible for and lead end-to-end process encompassing strategy formulation and structural decision-making, financial modeling/valuation analysis, due diligence, project management with a variety of stakeholders and workstreams, and deal negotiation and execution, working alongside business leaders, internal cross functional partners and external advisors. You will work closely senior leadership at Rivian as their partner for corporate and business development matters. This role will have a particular focus on Autonomy and AI, both inputs to development and cost structure as well as outputs and revenue generating opportunities.
Responsibilities
Partner with senior leaders in driving strategy and solutions for complex strategic questions with engagement from business executives, subject matter experts and cross-functional teams. The areas we work in are often uncharted territory for the company and a clean-sheet and first principles approach is required
Distill complex findings and build clear and compelling business cases for review by Rivian’s executive team and Board of Directors
Evaluate potential acquisitions, investments, strategic partnerships and other external opportunities from a qualitative and quantitative perspective
Manage deal processes from end to end, including being the relationship owner, negotiator and external face of Rivian in significant partner relationships
Drive deal diligence, integration planning, documentation and implementation
Manage post-close integration planning and execution
Do all of the above independently, drawing on your past experiences and strong conceptual thinking to determine solutions to net new questions
Qualifications
12+ years of work experience in a combination of corporate development/integration, strategy, management consulting, investment banking and/or other related fields, including at least 5 years of experience in a corporate or corporate business development role inside technology a company (especially Autonomy and/or AI focus)
Strong financial, research and analytical skills with ability to assimilate data, extract insights, and make informed recommendations with conviction
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail - we are responsible for everything
Ability to problem solve and proactively project manage numerous workstreams with competing timelines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas in plain English to senior management and the board
A keen interest in understanding industry trends and competitive dynamics
A self-starter mentality with the ability to work autonomously to drive projects to completion
