Position Summary

The Inside Broker partners closely with a Property Broker to support the placement, growth, and management of a middle-market property book of business. Serving as a key liaison between retail agents, carrier partners, and internal teams, this role evaluates risks, markets accounts, negotiates coverage solutions, and helps deliver exceptional service throughout the policy lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient wholesale insurance professional with strong property expertise, market relationships, and a desire to contribute to a growing, high-performing team.

Location: This role will be an on site position out of our New Orleans, LA office with the ability to go down to hybrid post training based on performance.

What will your job entail?

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with the Broker to manage and grow a middle-market property book of business.

  • Collaborate with internal marketing teams to develop competitive placement strategies and deliver best-in-class service to retail agency partners.

  • Review and evaluate submissions from retail brokers, identifying key exposures, coverage requirements, and placement opportunities.

  • Analyze complex property risks, including accounts with higher TIVs and layered/shared placements.

  • Market risks to insurance carriers, secure quotations, and manage the placement process from submission through binding.

  • Negotiate coverage terms, pricing, and structure with carrier partners to obtain optimal outcomes for clients.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail agents and insurance carriers through consistent communication and responsiveness.

  • Serve as a carrier-facing resource, participating in meetings and maintaining visibility within the marketplace.

  • Act as a true "tag-team" partner to the Broker by providing support across all aspects of the account lifecycle and stepping in where needed to ensure seamless service.

  • Process policy transactions accurately and maintain complete account documentation in agency management systems.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel functions, to analyze data, manage accounts, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Stay current on market conditions, carrier appetites, industry trends, and product offerings.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development, licensing, and educational opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Property & Casualty and/or Surplus Lines license.

  • 3+ years of wholesale insurance brokerage experience, preferably within commercial property.

  • Experience working with retail agents, insurance carriers, and property insurance placements.

  • Strong understanding of commercial property coverages and risk assessment.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience with middle-market property accounts, higher TIV risks, and layered placements.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain carrier relationships.

The target salary range for this position is $78,750.00 - $90,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
