About the role and team
Leading Local Operations at Uber means solving hard problems in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment. You will be responsible for making Uber a success in our most critical markets, acting as a strategic and operational leader who defines the vision for growth and carries the weight of decisions that matter. Whether you are leading consumer growth for a massive regional Delivery business or acting as a Country Manager for one of our strategic Rides markets, you’ll need to set direction in motion without waiting for perfect conditions.
This is a hands-on role that calls for a rare combination of customer obsession, savvy analytics, and an entrepreneurial mindset. You will navigate the "messy" reality of marketplace dynamics—balancing the needs of riders, drivers, couriers, and merchants—to build a world-class customer experience. If you lead with clarity, thrive in ambiguity, and are motivated by the challenge of moving the real world through structured, data-backed execution, this is where you’ll make your mark.
What you’ll do
- Own the end-to-end strategy and execution for a specific market or consumer segment, managing large and dynamic budgets to achieve aggressive growth and profitability targets.
- Conceive, design, and lead core growth initiatives across the entire funnel, from awareness and acquisition to engagement, retention, and loyalty.
- Navigate complex local regulations and market nuances to implement global and regional programs while driving high-impact local projects.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, fleet owners, and merchants, earning trust fast and creating win-win solutions for the platform.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Finance, and Legal teams to unblock barriers and ensure our strategy translates into seamless consumer experiences.
- Communicate with purpose at the executive level, synthesizing complex performance data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
What you’ll need
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in operations, consulting, technology, or other fast-paced, project-based environments. Graduate degree (MBA or equivalent) in a quantitative or business-related field (Economics, Engineering, Finance, or similar).
- Advanced technical fluency, including proficiency in SQL, Python, or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Proven track record of leading diverse teams and delivering measurable results in a high-growth business.
- Exceptional analytical and financial acumen; must be highly proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and capable of building bottom-up forecasting models.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-workstream projects with tight deadlines and resource constraints.
- Experience in "0-to-1" environments, such as launching new products, services, or geographic markets.
