Role purpose

This role is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the lawful interception (LI) function at VMO2. Working with a small team, you provide customer support, lead fault investigations, perform integration testing, and contribute to new projects. You deliver operational support for LI platforms, managing faults and routine maintenance while liaising with internal teams and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Conduct LI verification testing for voice, packet, and IMS/VoLTE services, as well as emerging telecommunications technologies.

Work independently in the planning of LI test activities with integration and test teams and vendors.

Find solutions to complex technical faults within the core network that affect LI systems.

Contribute to the development of the LI function and strategy within VMO2 by identifying security enhancements and addressing queries related to new products and technologies.

Define the scope for testing LI across voice, packet, and IMS services, and for new technologies.

Coordinate with suppliers to ensure smooth integration of new projects.

Report testing status to project management and the wider team.

Manage faults identified during testing with relevant internal parties and suppliers.

Capture and analyse network traffic to support incident resolution and service assurance.

Undertake site visits to implement or support required work, including fault‑finding and maintenance of on‑site equipment (remote or on‑site as required).

Liaise with internal and external customers.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, Or Experience

Demonstrates working knowledge of mobile networking (packet core, IMS, and voice core).

Applies complex fault analysis and resolution techniques to restore service swiftly.

Learns quickly and adapts to new challenges with minimal guidance.

Handles and manages conflicting priorities instinctively.

Works well within a team and operates effectively without supervision.

Demonstrates a strong troubleshooting methodology.

Communicates effectively and collaborates across teams within VMO2, including engaging with senior leadership as required.

Is proficient in Linux system administration.

Creates high‑quality technical documentation.

Implements health‑check monitoring and automation schedules to ensure operational integrity.

Has exposure to operational monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Zabbix, Grafana).

Provides support for LI testing and system integration activities.

Awareness of the Investigatory Powers Act 2016 (IPA) and its implementation.
