Senior Engineer £45000 - £60000
Principal Engineer £54000 - £70000
Where this vacancy is being recruited across more than one grade, the successful candidate will be appointed to a specific assessed grade, and the applicable salary range will be that associated with the grade of appointment.

The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

As part of our strategic growth initiatives, we are looking for talented and motivated engineers to join our Platform Team, which is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining our core development infrastructure that supports our diverse portfolio of aerospace and defence systems.

Your impact
As a Platform Engineer you will help shape, build and operate the infrastructure and services that underpin our engineering platform, from requirements and design through to deployment, support and continuous improvement.
Take ownership of core development tools and infrastructure, including compute, container platforms, application hosting and quality assurance systems. You will provide technical guidance, improve reliability and help engineering teams adopt consistent best practices.
Using technologies such as cloud platforms, container orchestration, infrastructure as code and automation, you will help deliver secure, scalable and resilient services. You will also investigate complex technical issues, improve observability and reduce operational risk and manual effort.
We are a multidisciplinary team looking for candidates with a broad mix of skills and experience. You do not need to meet every requirement. What matters most is sound engineering judgement, adaptability and the ability to make a meaningful contribution
What you’ll bring
We need someone who has experience in a similar role and can bring their knowledge and expertise into the team. We're ideally looking for experience in:
- Linux, application and server administration
- Cloud platforms, virtualisation and containers
- Infrastructure as code and configuration management
- Programming and scripting, such as Python, Bash or Go
- Monitoring, observability and SRE practices
- Infrastructure, networking and performance troubleshooting
- Secure, resilient and scalable system design
- Technical documentation and operational guidance
- Technical leadership and mentoring
Beneficial skills include:
- Strong problem-solving and engineering judgement
- Experience supporting business-critical platforms
- Familiarity with CI/CD and software delivery lifecycles
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
- Curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement
