Position: Senior Legal Manager

Department: Legal

Location: Powai, Mumbai


Roles & Responsibilities:

A. Business & Operational Legal Support

• Draft, review, structure, and negotiate the full range of agreements internal/standard and third-party at high volume (~320/yr at current run-rate), making third-party paper more company-favourable and risk-protected.

• Handle consumer complaints daily, with legally compliant responses aligned to consumer-protection standards and brand positioning.

• Advise on and draft Terms & Conditions for business offerings (e.g., lowest-price-guarantee framework, wallet and coupon structures) and legal disclaimers for marketing/promotional content to avoid misleading-claims exposure.

• Coordinate with CSR and Catalogue on product listing/delisting per government notifications and legal orders, and on timely responses to third-party infringement notices.


B. Policy, Compliance & Governance

• Review and strengthen internal policies e.g., Vulnerability Disclosure, Anti-Corruption, POSH, InfoSec & Acceptable Use and keep them current with changing law and business needs.

• Review and finalise regulatory/ethical undertakings such as the pharmacist Code of Conduct.

• Review and maintain the POSH policy and support POSH governance (serving on the POSH Internal Committee is optional and applies only if the hire is female, as the IC requires a woman member).

• Manage EPR registration and ANKW regulatory returns (CPCB / plastic-waste compliance), with active vendor coordination and filing.


C. Litigation & IPR

• Provide end-to-end litigation support drafting and reviewing documents, coordinating external counsel, and preparing case strategy and documentation acting as the internal bridge to outside lawyers and keeping leadership informed.

• Respond to legal notices on a timely, risk-mitigated basis.

• Manage the trademark portfolio: objections and counter-statements, with a centralized repository and status tracker.


D. Cross-Functional & Regulatory Coordination

• Operationalise regulatory changes that affect the product catalogue, working across teams so compliance lands without slowing execution.

• Be the first call for interpretation, notices, and risk questions from ~20 stakeholders a day across all verticals.


Qualification:

LLB / LLM from a recognised institution; enrolled with a Bar Council.


Experience:

• 5–8 years PQE with proven independent handling of a broad in-house portfolio. Freshers will not be considered.

• Heavy contract-drafting throughput with genuine drafting and structuring ability, not just review.

• Industry familiarity with pharma, e-commerce, or retail is an advantage; drug/cosmetic regulatory exposure is a plus.

• Strong compliance grounding consumer protection, data protection, POSH, and regulatory filings.
