Technical Product Owner - Payments
Job Description
What is the opportunity?
Our Enterprise Payments team is modernizing high-value and real-time payment platforms, and we're looking for a motivated Technical Product Owner to grow with us. In this role, you will serve as a key connector between business stakeholders, operations, compliance, and engineering — supporting the analysis, design, delivery, and validation of payment solutions in a regulated financial services environment. You will contribute to outcomes across the product lifecycle, helping embed regulatory controls and best practices into every stage of delivery. If you have a foundation in payments technology and a drive to expand your expertise across complex, cross-functional initiatives, this is the role for you.
What will you do?
Key Responsibilities
- Support the product backlog, roadmap, and delivery activities for payment processing and platform modernization initiatives under the guidance of senior team members.
- Translate business objectives into clear functional and technical requirements across concurrent priorities.
- Participate in requirements elicitation, solution design, and cross-functional alignment across multiple lines of business.
- Analyze and document payment capabilities with a focus on Correspondent Payment routing, and contribute to initiatives spanning Domestic and Cross-Border payments, SWIFT MT/MX messaging, and ISO 20022 standards.
- Support the integration of sanctions screening, AML controls, and regulatory requirements into payment workflows and system design.
- Identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks; escalate and collaborate on mitigation strategies as needed.
- Contribute to AI-assisted delivery practices across the SDLC to support automation and continuous improvement.
- Build working relationships across business units and platforms, collaborating with teams to define deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into procedures and processes.
What do you need to succeed?
What You Bring
- 3–5 years in Financial Services, Payments, or Banking Technology, with at least 2 years in Technical Product Ownership, Business Systems Analysis, or an equivalent role.
- Hands-on experience with Correspondent Payment routing, including an understanding of payment message flows, routing logic, and settlement processes.
- Exposure to High-Value Payments, SWIFT MT/MX messaging, or ISO 20022 standards (deep expertise not required).
- Familiarity with sanctions screening, AML controls, or regulatory compliance considerations in a payments context.
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe delivery models with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to document requirements clearly and present findings to diverse audiences.
