Job Summary:
A Combination Pipe Welder in a refinery setting is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems, including those in excavations and underground, as well as welding structural steel. This role involves welding, cutting, and assembling pipes and structural components to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the refinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as SMAW and GTAW to join metal pipes, structural steel, and components.
- Pipe Installation:
- Assemble and secure pipes and fittings according to specifications by welding, bolting or threading joints.
- Bolting Up and Torquing: Secure flanges and fittings by bolting up and torquing to ensure leak-proof connections and structural integrity.
- Excavation and Underground Piping:
- Excavation Work: Safely perform tasks in excavated areas, ensuring proper shoring and trench safety practices.
- Underground Piping: Install and repair underground piping systems, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections to prevent leaks and ensure durability.
- Structural Steel Welding:
- Fabrication and Assembly: Cut, shape, and assemble structural steel components.
- Installation: Weld structural steel components to form complete structures, ensuring stability and compliance with design specifications.
- Inspection: Inspect welded joints and structural components to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintenance and Repair: Inspect, maintain, and repair existing piping and structural systems.
- Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to determine the layout and installation procedures.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and ensuring proper ventilation during welding operations.
- Quality Control: Verify that all welds and connections are free of defects and conform to set specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance personnel to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Proven experience as a pipe welder in a refinery or industrial setting. 5+ years of experience.
- Skills: Strong technical skills in welding and pipe fitting, structural steel welding, bolting up and torquing, problem-solving abilities, and good communication skills.
- Certifications: Oklahoma Steam Card

Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.
