About the Team

The People & Culture team enables ALU to deliver on its mission by ensuring our people are hired, supported, developed, and set up to perform at their best across a complex, multi-country environment. People Experience & Growth is the team within People & Culture that owns how it feels to work at ALU, and how our people grow while they're here.

About the Role

The People Experience & Growth Associate is the engine room of the department, responsible for the day-to-day execution, administration, and coordination of ALU's employee experience, culture, and learning programmes. Reporting directly to the People Experience Partner, this role takes high-level strategy and transforms it into seamlessly executed daily operations.

This is an execution-focused, highly collaborative role suited to a detail-oriented People professional who thrives on data coordination, event planning, programme administration, and direct employee interaction across a distributed, pan-African workforce. The role offers broad exposure across the full People Experience portfolio, from onboarding and employee experience to learning, development, and capability-building, providing an excellent opportunity to develop expertise across the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Onboarding & Early Talent Operations

  • Administer the end-to-end onboarding workflow, auditing and optimizing the execution of the Buddy Programme and structured 30/60/90-day check-ins to ensure 100% adherence to established frameworks.

2. Engagement & Wellbeing Administration

  • Administer the logistics for the Annual Engagement Survey and pulse surveys, formatting questionnaires and generating initial participation reports.
  • Schedule and coordinate the Stay and Exit Interview programs, compiling qualitative feedback trends for the Associate Director.
  • Manage the administrative backend of the Rewards & Recognition platform and coordinate promotional awareness of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

3. Culture, Events & Internal Communications Execution

  • Serve as the lead logistics coordinator for ALU’s culture calendar, including FLDs, TGIFs, community events, and shared rituals.
  • Provide operational support for the planning, vendor coordination, and seamless execution of Staff and Leadership Retreats.
  • Draft and distribute internal communications celebrating milestones, birthdays, anniversaries, and community news.
  • Actively engage on digital community channels to keep a distributed, multi-country workforce connected to ALU’s culture.

4. Learning & Development Operations

  • Serve as the primary administrator for learning platforms (e.g., Coursera), managing license allocations, technical troubleshooting, and user adoption tracking.
  • Coordinate logistics for learning and competency assessments, acting as the primary liaison with People Partners to ensure high-quality, timely adoption of growth initiatives across all business units.
  • Gather and organize monthly learning analytics to help the Associate Director evaluate program impact and ROI.

5. Data & Reporting Support

  • Update and maintain the People Experience data trackers, dashboards, and operational KPIs.
  • Compile baseline data summaries regarding engagement, learning metrics, and retention risks to support leadership reporting.
  • Act as a data integrity custodian, proactively identifying and correcting discrepancies in employee records and platform data to ensure reports remain reliable for senior leadership.

6. Process Improvement

  • Actively surface operational bottlenecks or recurring pain points in employee programs to the Associate Director, providing qualitative input that informs future system design and automation roadmaps.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of administration work, preferably in HR/People Experience or Events Coordination.
  • Experience coordinating events or managing digital systems/platforms for a distributed or remote workforce.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and documenting systems.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment is a distinct advantage.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES 

Functional Competencies 

  • Project coordination and event logistics management.
  • HRIS or LMS platform administration (e.g., Coursera, BambooHR, or similar).
  • Strong data literacy, leveraging Excel/Google Sheets to track metrics and drive decision-making 
  • Strong written communication skills for creating engaging internal newsletters and announcements.
