NTT Data Greece is looking an experienced Senior Data Engineer (Databricks Expert) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions that support business intelligence, reporting, and analytics across the organization.

Working closely with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and developers, the role requires translating business and reporting requirements into efficient, reliable, and high-performing data solutions built on the Microsoft Azure data platform.

Your role: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data pipelines using Azure cloud technologies.
  • Build and optimize data warehouse solutions to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Develop robust ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Collaborate with business users and analysts to gather, analyse, and translate reporting and analytical requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, governance, and security across the data platform.
  • Develop and maintain semantic models and datasets to support Power BI reporting.
  • Monitor and optimize data platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Work closely with solution architects and development teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data architecture and best practices.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation for data models, pipelines, and processes.
  • Support production environments by troubleshooting issues and implementing continuous improvements.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering, big data, or cloud-based pipeline development.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise data warehouse solutions.
  • Proven experience gathering, analysing, and translating business and reporting requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, including developing scalable data engineering solutions using PySpark, implementing Delta Lake architecture, optimising data pipelines, and applying performance tuning and best practices for large-scale data processing.
  • Good working knowledge of the wider Microsoft Azure data ecosystem, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), with experience in data orchestration, integration, storage, and analytics solutions.
  • Advanced SQL development skills, including query optimisation and performance tuning.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience developing data engineering solutions and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing in Azure Databricks.
  • Experience designing dimensional data models (star and snowflake schemas) to support analytical reporting.
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Strong experience with Power BI, including:
    • Developing and maintaining semantic models.
    • Implementing efficient and reusable DAX measures and calculations.
    • Applying Power BI best practices for data modelling, report performance optimisation, security (Row-Level Security), and governance.
    • Optimizing datasets and reports for scalability and maintainability.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, security, and metadata management.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
