The Opportunity:
KBR is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our growing Defence team.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership across the design, development, integration and sustainment of complex software solutions supporting scientific and engineering applications. You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality software products that meet customer requirements and support mission-critical Defence capabilities.
This position offers the opportunity to influence technical outcomes, mentor engineers and contribute to the development of advanced software systems used within complex operational environments.
Responsibilities:
As the Senior Specialist Software Engineer, you will:
- Lead the design, development and implementation of software solutions for scientific and engineering applications.
- Analyse customer requirements and translate them into software designs and technical solutions.
- Develop, test, debug and maintain software products in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
- Create software prototypes and participate in verification and validation activities.
- Resolve software discrepancies and support continuous product improvement initiatives.
- Produce and maintain software documentation, design artefacts and baseline configuration records.
- Contribute to system analysis, software architecture and engineering assessments.
- Support the development of engineering test strategies and software evaluation activities.
- Provide technical leadership, project planning, estimation and coordination across assigned work packages.
- Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders and customers to deliver successful project outcomes.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex software engineering solutions.
- Strong proficiency in:
- C#
- Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Unit Testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience working within Defence, aerospace or other highly regulated engineering environments.
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
- Exposure to systems engineering methodologies and complex engineering programs.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership or mentoring software engineering teams.
