The Opportunity

We are looking for a Lead Engineer - Plants who wants to take on a key role at HVDC in technical leadership in tenders and projects. You will have the responsibility to coordinate global teams with focus on Plants and Civil engineering design solutions and its interfaces for our onshore and offshore converter stations.  

As a Lead Engineer - Plants, you will drive strategic technical decision making, ensure that our design solutions meet customer requirements, quality standards and project goals. You interact with other stakeholders such as customers, contractors, supply chain and site team, contributing to the successful delivery of some of the world's most advanced energy infrastructure projects. The role is offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the global energy transition while working in a highly collaborative and international environment. We are looking for three Lead Engineers. This role is based in Ludvika, Sweden.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Provide strong technical leadership across Plants and Civil engineering teams and their interfaces.
  • Primary contact for technical communication with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive completion of engineering activities in tenders and projects, working closely with technical leads, project managers, and interface managers.
  • Manage technical risks and ensure compliance with quality, safety and engineering processes.
  • Support installation and commissioning activities by providing expert technical guidance.
  • Lead development of new technical solutions while interpreting customer’s needs and expectations.
  • Take a strategic role in defining Plants and Civil solutions for onshore HVDC converter stations and offshore platforms.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across key disciplines, including:
    • Electromechanical Design
    • Station Auxiliary Power Systems
    • Civil Engineering
    • Auxiliary Systems (eg Fire Protection, HVAC, Security Systems)
  • Ensure effective coordination and management of interfaces between engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the Plants discipline in customer meetings, partner discussions, and technical reviews.

Your Background

  • Academic degree in Engineering (for example within Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related area)
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience, including experience of leading technical teams, multidisciplinary engineering activities or complex projects is required.
  • Experience within HVDC, transmission systems, substations, electrical power systems, offshore wind, or other large-scale energy infrastructure projects is highly valued.
  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to quickly develop expertise in HVDC technology and systems.
  • A collaborative and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders across functions and geographic locations.
  • Strong leadership skills and the confidence to make technical decisions when required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical solutions in a clear and structured manner.
  • Fluency in English, both verbally and written, is required. Other languages are an advantage.
