This role is ideal for an experienced technician who works independently, communicates professionally with customers, and is committed to safety, efficiency, and technical excellence.Position SummaryThe Engines Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and testing marine diesel engines and related systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction, equipment reliability, and safe, efficient operations.Key ResponsibilitiesDetermine unit condition by conducting inspections and advanced diagnostic testingIdentify deficiencies and complete engine overhauls and related repairsTroubleshoot and repair diesel engine electronic controlsUtilize electrical multi-meters and diagnostic softwareMaintain accurate engine and vessel service documentationComplete detailed work logs in a timely mannerCommunicate professionally with customers, technical support, sales, and managementEvaluate warranty, service, and parts options to help control costsMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and service vehicleProvide guidance, assistance, and training to apprentice marine techniciansAccept ownership of new requests and proactively identify value-add opportunitiesRequired Skills & Qualifications3+ years of diesel engine experienceExperience with small bore marine diesel enginesKnowledge of marine electrical systemsThorough understanding of diesel engine electronic controlsProficiency using electrical multi-metersStrong ability to visually diagnose mechanical and electrical issuesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to read and interpret service manuals, operating instructions, and work ordersStrong laptop/PC skills for diagnostics and documentationStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to collaborate effectively as part of a teamHigh School Diploma or equivalentAbility to work flexible schedule, with overtimePreferred Skills & ExperienceExperience with marine engines, drives, and associated control systemsPossess a boating safety card is plusExperience with detailed service report writingTechnical schooling or formal diesel trainingExperience with large bore marine diesel enginesTransportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) cardKey Performance IndicatorsSafety complianceEfficiency rateCustomer satisfactionAdditional RequirementsMaintain your own set of professional mechanics toolsMaintain a clean and organized work vehicleComplete company-provided manufacturer training (online and in person)BenefitsMSHS Pacific Power Group offers a competitive benefits package designed to support you and your family:Competitive hourly compensation ($33.00 - $43.00 per hour based on experience)Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidaysCompany-provided training and career developmentOpportunities for advancementCompany vehicle (where applicable to role)Stable, growing organization with long-term career potentialIf you are a driven, safety-focused technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality...
