Role Overview
In this role, you will sell Johnson Controls service offerings to building owners, primarily at the Director level, by combining technical solutions, operational expertise, and disciplined relationship management. Success comes from creating long-term partnerships, positioning renewable service agreements as the foundation of managed account growth, and closing new service and retrofit opportunities that help customers improve the performance of their buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell Johnson Controls service offerings to building owners and decision makers at the Director level.
- Promote the value proposition through technical solutions and operational expertise that support customer business goals.
- Build and manage long-term relationships with target and managed accounts.
- Cultivate, qualify, and close new sales opportunities, with a focus on monthly sales results.
- Position renewable service agreements, including multi-year agreements, as the foundation of account growth and retention.
- Expand the depth and breadth of Johnson Controls offerings within existing accounts.
- Focus on services and retrofit opportunities that improve existing buildings and support better outcomes for the owner.
- Work closely with owner representatives and other stakeholders to understand needs, address concerns, and move opportunities forward.
How You Will Do It
- Lead with accountability, safety, and integrity in every customer interaction and sales decision.
- Stay close to the customer’s operation, listen carefully, and remove obstacles that slow progress or decision-making.
- Focus on the work that matters most by aligning service and retrofit solutions to the customer’s business objectives.
- Use a consultative approach to understand the customer’s business, speak their language, and build trust with key stakeholders.
- Improve every day through candid problem-solving, learning from outcomes, and refining your approach to selling.
- Win as one team by collaborating with internal partners to deliver a consistent and responsive customer experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or equivalent sales experience in the HVAC or Building Automation industry.
- Minimum of six years of progressive field sales experience.
- At least one year of successful experience selling HVAC or building automation system service or projects.
- Demonstrated ability to influence account decision makers at key levels.
- Excellent initiative and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to integrity and quality in business.
Nice to Have
- Experience selling commercial HVAC service, building automation, or retrofit solutions in complex accounts.
- Understanding of long-term account management and coordination across internal teams.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office tools in a sales environment.

Salary Range: HIRING SALARY RANGE: $64,000- 92,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role also offers a competitive Sales Incentive Plan that will take into account volume and margin on a project, quarterly, and annual basis. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
