Manager, Cybersecurity Platform Operations
We are Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS) - the trusted provider of software that enables our customers to develop, deploy and manage responsible, AI-powered applications and experiences with agility and ease.
We’re proud to have a diverse, global team where we value the individual and enrich our culture by considering varied perspectives because we believe people power progress. Join us as a Manager, Cybersecurity Platform Operations and help us do what we do best: propelling business forward. This will be a hybrid role working between your home office and our Belen Costa Rica location.
The Manager, Cybersecurity Platform Operations is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing a team of cybersecurity administrators charged with the deployment, configuration, lifecycle management, and continuous optimization of our enterprise cybersecurity tool stack. This position focuses entirely on platform engineering, systems administration, and the health enablement of key security technologies including SIEM, EDR/XDR, CNAPP, Vulnerability Scanning, and patch management tooling.
This is a dedicated platform enablement and engineering infrastructure management role. It does not carry operational responsibilities for day-to-day security monitoring, threat hunting, or active incident response. Instead, this team builds, tunes, and sustains the robust technology pipeline that directly empowers and scales our global Cybersecurity Detection & Response and Cybersecurity Engineering functions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of technical engineering depth, enterprise-scale tool administration expertise, and proven people leadership skills. You will drive operational excellence, enforce rigorous SLAs/KPIs around tool health and coverage, and foster a collaborative environment to ensure our security analysts have highly dependable telemetry and response capabilities at their fingertips.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Cybersecurity Systems Administrators and Platform Engineers, providing clear strategic alignment, career development, and performance coaching.
- Manage service delivery, backlog prioritization, and resource allocation to support enterprise project pipelines and dynamic operational demands.
- Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) regarding tool uptime, log ingestion integrity, agent health, and deployment coverage.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle, including architecture input, deployment, integration, patching, upgrades, and retirement, for the enterprise cybersecurity stack (e.g., SIEM, EDR, CNAPP, SOAR, and Vulnerability Management).
- Partner directly with the Detection & Response and Engineering teams to ensure continuous integration of high-fidelity data pipelines and automated response playbooks.
- Establish robust health-monitoring, alerting, and auto-remediation mechanisms to quickly identify and resolve offline security agents, degraded log sources, or pipeline bottlenecks.
- Manage vendor relationships, software licensing, and hardware/cloud capacity planning to maximize return on investment and maintain optimal platform performance.
- Enforce strict configuration management and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles across the security stack to ensure repeatable, auditable, and secure deployments.
- Define and validate backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability frameworks for mission-critical security platforms.
- Coordinate with Compliance, Audit, and Risk teams to supply administrative evidence, ensure regulatory alignment, and maintain comprehensive documentation of tool configurations and log storage policies.
Your background:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a college or university Information Technology, Information Security/Assurance, Engineering, or similar area of study; demonstrated or proven experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 6+ years in cybersecurity engineering, systems administration, or platform operations, with at least 2+ years of experience leading or managing technical engineering teams.
- Proven hands-on administration expertise across multiple enterprise security technologies:
- SIEM/Data Lake: Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or Elastic (data parsing, pipeline management, index strategy).
- Endpoint Protection: CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (policy tuning, sensor deployment, exclusions).
- Cloud Security (CNAPP/CSPM): Prisma Cloud, Wiz, or Orca Security.
- Strong familiarity with automating administrative tasks using Python, PowerShell, or Bash, and managing configurations via CI/CD pipelines and IaC (Terraform, Ansible).
- Systems Administration: Deep foundational knowledge of enterprise operating systems (Windows Server, RedHat/Ubuntu Linux), Active Directory/Entra ID, and cloud infrastructure architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex system health metrics into clear business-risk conversations.
- Strong cooperative approach with a track record of building trusted relationships with downstream security consumers (Security Analysts, IR Teams, Threat Hunters).
