In this position... 
The Seat Engineering technician is responsible for providing leadership, overseeing, and conducting test requests including ST-0809, ST-0009, ST-0007, ST-0017, ST-0019, ST-0035, ST-0011, ST-0036, ST-0811and for testing in the seat robots, Jounce stand, MAST & environmental chambers. The technician will be expected to work with test engineers, seta lab customers, and suppliers to support testing, provide facility maintenance and test system upgrades.


What you'll do...

Position Duties:

  • Attend the startup & shift change meetings to provide accurate status of seat tests.
  • Conduct various seat tests, including ST-0809, ST-0009, ST-0007, ST-0017, ST-0019, ST-0035, ST-0011, ST-0036, ST-0811
  • Extensive knowledge of various seat testing stands, environmental chambers, seat robots.
  • Assist in the development of customized seat test fixtures with minimal direction, in a timely manner.
  • Modify  test systems in response to seat design changes that impact component or system test performance
  • Use various forms of machinery including CNC lathes& mills, welders, plasma cutters, drill presses, and hydraulic presses.
  • Work with test engineers & test requestors to develop quality test events.
  • Handle multiple seat tests simultaneously and meet milestones.
  • Accurately estimate test set up time, laboratory resources, and test run time to meet program milestones.
  • Coordinate equipment & test stand repairs with skilled trades & suppliers.
  • Required to follow all SOP’s, CETPs & requirements associated with seat testing as well as EH&S.
  • Will be required to meet all work place Health and Safety requirements and practices. Provide feedback and identify opportunities to improve work place conditions.
  • Continually work to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained and proper build tolerances are achieved.
  • Due to the time sensitive nature of critical seat testing, this technician will work closely with lab logistics technician to ensure optimal the flow of seat testing properties & fixtures.

Position Qualifications:

 Education

  • High School diploma , GED equivalent

    Preferred

  • Associates Degree or equivalent (preferred)
  • Seat  testing experience 2+ years (preferred)
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Extensive knowledge of various seat testing stands, environmental chambers, seat robots.
    • A strong ability to multi-task, along with ability to understand technical details required to conduct complex tests.       
    • Ability to interpret seat functional requirements and conduct appropriate tests. 
    • Basic machine shop experience is needed. 
    • Ability to conduct basic data analysis and digital signal processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite and computer skills. 

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to function as part of a team and work cooperatively toward team goals 

  • Qualified candidates must work well under pressure, demonstrate excellent problem solving and creativity, and be able to quickly evaluate new information and make appropriate decisions. 

  • Ability to work independently and with test technicians, skilled trades, and suppliers to resolve issues

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $65,100-$109,300.      
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
