As an Associate within Corporate Development in Payments, you will play a key role in evaluating and executing strategic transactions and initiatives across JPMorgan’s Payments franchise.
The team sits at the center of one of the largest global payments platforms, driving acquisitions, investments, and partnerships across key growth areas including merchant acquiring, embedded finance, and digital assets. Working closely with senior business leaders, the role combines transaction execution with broader strategic exposure, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to both deal delivery and long-term platform growth.
Job responsibilities
Lead / contribute to strategic assessments of priority subsectors, informing investment theses, build/buy/partner decisions, and long-term platform strategy.
Monitor industry trends, emerging business models, and valuation benchmarks
Deliver analytical insights to support strategic priorities and business decision-making
Support end-to-end execution of M&A and investment transactions, including evaluation, structuring, diligence, negotiation support, and closing
Perform detailed financial analysis, valuation, and modeling (including scenario and sensitivity analysis)
Coordinate and participate in comprehensive due diligence processes across internal and external stakeholders
Prepare investment memos, presentations, and materials for senior management and internal stakeholders
Partner with portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to monitor performance, support strategic initiatives, and inform ongoing capital allocation decisions including: quarterly valuation updates and KPI tracking and performance monitoring
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or a related field
- Strong foundation in corporate finance, valuation methodologies, and financial modeling
- Experience supporting transaction execution in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including preparation of senior-level materials
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and operate with a high degree of ownership with limited supervision
- Strong analytical and research capabilities across sources such as SEC filings, FactSet, and PitchBook
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Prior experience in financial services, fintech, or payments
Familiarity with M&A and investment transaction processes and documentation
