Tool Room Attendant
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining and issuing tools and equipment to workers. This position is also responsible for maintaining documentation on tool locations, issuance of tools and tool room inventory. The Tool Room Attendant will be responsible for supplying tools and consumables to all shop employees.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain records of issued tools and monitor tool room inventory
- Receive new tools into the organization and schedule preventive maintenance for equipment
- Order all necessary tools and equipment required for shop personnel
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain price quotes
- Submit new orders to management for approval
- Request purchase orders (POs) from the Purchasing Department
- Maintain all tools and consumables in a well-organized manner
- Maintain and file documentation required for reporting purposes
- Collaborate effectively with multiple team members and departments simultaneously
- Maintain good communication with shop leads and supervisors
- Other duties as assigned by TAS
JOB SKILLS:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records of tool locations, scheduled repairs, and maintenance activities
- Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain inventory and recordkeeping systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including the ability to work with spreadsheets and maintain records
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to conduct online research and source tools, equipment, and materials at competitive prices
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
- High school diploma or GED
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work performed in a non-climate-controlled shop environment
- Exposed to any number of elements such as hot and cold temperatures, but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods throughout the workday, up to 10 hours per day (with a lunch break in between), up to 6 days per week
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach (forward and overhead), and maintain balance.
- Occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be required
- Frequent bending at the waist and twisting movements are required
- Physical effort includes frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds, including lifting from floor to shoulder height and from waist to shoulder height
- Occasional carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds over short distances (up to 30 feet).
- Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and coordination tasks is required
- Requires normal vision, hand-eye coordination, and absence of color blindness
- Hearing ability is required to safely and effectively perform job duties, with the use of earplugs recommended
- Climbing ladders may be required frequently; climbing stairs or steps may occur occasionally.
- Proper PPE which includes steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and TAS provided hard hat is required in the manufacturing facility
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily performed in a sitting position 75% of the time and then standing & walking for the remaining 25%. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
