In this position...
Seat complete engineers are responsible for Design, Release and integrate all components and assemblies for seat systems.
This includes leading and coordinating the development of the various components to meet the system level requirements of design, performance, cost, weight, quality, and craftsmanship, ensuring that the engineering deliverables in our Global Product Development System are met with excellence in support of program timing.
Seat complete engineers are responsible for communicating accurately at different layers of the organization including pairs, managers, chiefs, etc.
Seat complete engineers normally travel to the JIT plant to resolve issues on site, and they are close to the product, especially when building phases start.
The PD Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements.
The PD Engineer is expected to understand and effectively utilize product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford’s PLM ecosystem.
The PD Engineer will perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.
- Complete engineering deliverables throughout the complete GPDS (Global Product Development Process) on time with high quality for all gateways/milestones, from Product definition, Target setting, Supplier sourcing, Engineering development, Validation, and testing, and up to Launch and production stages.
- Attend program related meetings: To4, Seat complete, EMMs, TDRMs, supplier meetings, purchasing meetings, etc. Some of them should be led by the D&R Engineer.
- Develop and execute Seat system/component level Design Verification Plans, support vehicle/system level DVP, and ensure compliance to all System Design Specifications (SDS) and Federal Regulations including unique Export Market Requirements.
- Lead issue resolution to ensure deliverables are met throughout the various GPDS milestones.
- Lead financial status-to-target for the seat system.
- Lead execution of Target Delivery and Target Confirmation for cost, weight, and quality.
- Lead/support cost process to deliver sourcing packages to the supply base.
- Manage tools and processes to track and follow up engineering and program delivery.
- Provide on-site support for all prototype and pre-production build phases.
- Provide on-site support for vehicle launch through Ok to Buy at Final Vehicle Assembly Plant.
- Lead resolution of prototype and final assembly build issues.
- Coordinate with other areas to make sure design intent meets all requirements (Seat Complete, Seat Structure, Seat Features, Studio, Safety, Craftsmanship, VO, PVT, Supplier, Tool shop, Purchasing, Finance, Program, etc.).
- Lead integration of seating components into the seat system.
You'll have...
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial or related.
2+ years of seat system or component parts design and manufacturing knowledge/experience.
1+ years of CAD experience.
Even better, you may have...
Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial or related.
Product development and parts verification/validation experience.
· FEDE, ADS, FSMS, GPDS, E2KS and WERS systems knowledge.
· FMEA knowledge and Experience.
· Able to read and conceptualize 2D and 3D Engineering Drawings (including GD&T).
· Teamcenter, TC VisMockup and CATIA (Basic) knowledge.
· Excellent graphical communication skills (sketching).
· Able to explain complex engineering concepts to other areas: Studio, Program, etc.
· Structured problem solving and thinking.
· Proactive, Disciplined.
· Strong network and relationship builder.
· MS Office expertise (including Project).
· Proficient English (Reading, listening and writing).

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $65,100-$109,300.
This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.
This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
