JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Under the direction of senior techs begin to understand setter and tooling fixture 
requirements. 
• Under the direction of senior techs, assist with the execution of their job functions such as 
assisting with the setting up of machine tools, tooling layouts, and operation of machines 
used within the process.   
• Candidates must have flexibility and willingness to work any shift, and any day as needed to 
support manufacturing demands. 
• This position requires overtime and standard working hours on weekdays, as well as 
weekends as needed to support demands. 



Other Requirements: 
• Maintain a high attendance record 
• Must maintain a work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition by 5S standards  
• Self-Starter who performs work safely and efficiently to complete a task. 
• Preventive Maintenance and troubleshooting to keep machinery clean, maintained, and 
functioning properly. 
• Preparing equipment, adjusting controls, and selecting appropriate tools and materials                                             
• Ability to efficiently and effectively complete assigned tasks. 
• Perform minor repairs or modifications on core dies and/or unit holders as needed 
• Alert Design Engineer and Tool Room Supervision of any issues  
• Abides by plant safety rules and promote safety awareness in and out of the plant.  
• Obtain a good selection of basic machinist tools and hand tools  
• Analyzes die, fixture, and gauge models and blueprints for problems and offer solutions 
• Performs efficient machining tasks per instructions.  
• Show the ability to obtain and utilize knowledge of tooling 
• Perform any other duties as required 
• Attend training functions, possibly including after work study and /or travel to obtain 
technology updates. 

 

 

Qualifications:  
• High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. 
• Working on the completion of TCAT or another vocational approved equivalent to obtain 
Certification 
• Understanding machine tools, mechanics, metal properties, and shop mathematics 
• Experience and be efficient setting up, operating, programming, and troubleshooting CNC 
machining center issues.  
• Understanding schematics, dimensions, tolerances, and machining instructions to ensure 
accuracy. 
• Using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other instruments to verify that parts meet quality 
and tolerance standards. 
• Computer competency and knowledge of Microsoft preferred 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Some heavy lifting up to 35 lbs.,  
• Operation of Mobile and shop equipment 
• Ability to use jeweler’s glasses and 10 power inspection loops 
• Ability to stand and/or sit for extended amounts of time 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:    
• Good mechanical understanding and skills  
• Good math skills  
• Good ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions  
• Communicate well in written form and verbally. 
• Good hand eye coordination 

 

Tools and equipment used on the job include but are not limited to the following: 

• Drill presses, grinding machines, welders, ultra-sonic cleaners, pneumatic impact wrenches, 
pneumatic die grinders, hand tools, stamps, measuring tools, band saws, die cleaning 
equipment, drill and other tool sharpening equipment, machinist tools, computers, and 
overhead cranes.
