Position Summary

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, performance, and compliance of software releases across CVS Retail Pharmacy systems. This role leads the planning, design, development, and execution of comprehensive testing strategies for business-critical applications. Strong technical, functional, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential for success.

The current suite of systems includes multiple applications, including but not limited to, Tier 1 Retail Pharmacy systems. You will partner closely with Development Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, Product Owners, Developers, Project Managers, and Business Partners to ensure high-quality business solutions are delivered into production. The Quality Engineer will be involved throughout the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis through production deployment, validating that solutions meet functional, non-functional, performance, security, and regulatory requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Administers the test design and execution strategy for the engineering department; develops test cases, scripts, and scenarios based on engineering project requirements.

  • Analyzes the complexities of project defects and works closely with quality assurance development teams to investigate and resolve issues.

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of quality assurance principles to facilitate the creation of detailed test plans and schedules.

  • Communicates with cross-functional engineering teams to reinforce transparency, effective communication, and alignment with quality expectations.

  • Conducts routine assessments in collaboration with the engineering team to measure and monitor performance and quality.

  • Coordinates with IT infrastructure teams, database administrators, and system analysts to establish and maintain the testing environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or Test Automation for enterprise/web applications.

  • 2+ years of experience designing and executing functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing for Java-based applications.

  • 2+ years with API testing, web services validation, and integration testing.

  • 1+ years of experience with UI testing for React.js or modern web applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in Retail Pharmacy, Healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.

  • Experience validating business-critical and customer-facing applications.

  • Experience testing microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.

  • Ability to foster a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement.

  • Experience working with distributed teams across multiple geographies and time zones.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$79,310.00 - $158,620.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
