Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, we are looking for a Technical Lead – AI & Cloud Platforms to join ABB's Industrial Automation Digital Organization. You will provide technical leadership for enterprise AI, cloud-native, and industrial software platforms while leading a team of software engineers in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance applications.
Working closely with Product Management, Solution Architects, AI/ML Engineers, DevOps, and Quality Engineering teams, you will drive engineering excellence, mentor development teams, and ensure successful delivery of cloud and AI platform capabilities using modern technologies including .NET, Python, Angular, Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, and Generative AI.
This role is contributing to the Process Automation – Digital Industry Analytics / Research & Development organization in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Lead the design, architecture, and development of enterprise AI and cloud-native applications by defining technical direction, establishing engineering standards, reviewing solution designs (HLD/LLD), and ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable software architectures.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing software engineering team by providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, supporting career development, removing technical blockers, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
- Drive end-to-end product delivery by partnering with Product Management, Architects, DevOps, and Quality Engineering teams to plan roadmaps, prioritize features, implement CI/CD and DevSecOps practices, and deliver high-quality software through Agile methodologies.
- Champion engineering excellence by promoting best practices in software development, AI platform engineering, automated testing, cybersecurity, documentation, performance optimization, continuous improvement, and operational reliability.
Qualifications for the Role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with proven technical leadership in developing enterprise applications using .NET/C#, Python, Angular, REST APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong expertise in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), LLMOps, RAG, NLP frameworks, AI model lifecycle management, and deploying AI solutions in production environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, including services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Data Lake, containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, microservices, asynchronous programming, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, cybersecurity, and scalable application design.
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams, mentoring engineers, driving technical excellence, and collaborating with cross-functional global stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with exposure to Industrial IoT technologies such as MQTT and OPC UA considered an advantage.
