The Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed administrative expert who is experienced in working in a commercial trading environment. You have an affinity with commodities, and you love to ensure a perfect operational process. You have a sharp eye for detail, but you are also able to keep oversight. The ideal candidate should be confident, but open to direct feedback and preferably have a comprehensive understanding of environmental commodities (carbon, (bio)fuels, (renewable) power and gas markets).The Role
As a Back Office Specialist – Renewable Power & Gas, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of energy and environmental commodity transactions. You will be responsible for supporting the full trade lifecycle across renewable power, gas, environmental certificates, and related commodity markets.Working closely with traders, counterparties, utilities, producers, network operators, registries, and customers, you will coordinate contract execution, manage trade confirmations, oversee settlements and invoicing processes, reconcile positions, and support accurate transaction reporting.
In addition, you will help maintain inventory records, monitor contractual obligations, coordinate environmental attribute transfers, and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Your analytical mindset and attention to detail will contribute to informed decision-making and operational excellence across the organization.
The Requirements
In order to be considered for the role you will meet the following:• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, energy management, environmental studies, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in Operations, Trade Support, Settlements, Logistics, Contract Administration, or Back Office functions within energy, environmental commodities, utilities, renewable energy, or commodity trading environments.
• Coordinate and oversee the settlement process for renewable gas, power, and environmental commodity transactions, including invoice verification, payment processing, delivery tracking, registry transfers, and reconciliation of contractual obligations.
• Strong understanding of contract administration, trade lifecycle management, settlements, invoicing, reconciliations, and operational controls.
• Experience working with environmental attributes, renewable energy certificates, guarantees of origin, carbon instruments, or environmental registries is preferred.
• Ability to manage complex contractual agreements, verify transactional data, and maintain accurate records in trading and operational systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
