THE ROLE
The Operations Coordinator/ Utilities will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations and cleaning of the building.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises & participates in the cleanup of convention or trade show floor.
- Supervises & participates in the cleaning of office spaces and all public spaces and service hallways.
- Supervises & participates in the overall building cleaning inside & the outside perimeter.
- Responsible for stock and equipment inventory as well as janitorial supplies.
- Supervises set-up/tear-down of meeting rooms.
- Supervisors set up risers, chairs, and stages for events, etc.
- Responsible for equipment upkeep and repair.
- Perform basic operational duties as a working supervisor.
- Assists in the new hire process for support personnel
- Paperwork and shift placement; also responsible for preparing separation documentation and all supporting materials as needed.
- Works with Operations Manager & Facility Engineer to include directing, supervising, and scheduling all aspects of operations.
- Responsible for administering immediate disciplinary actions including dismissing employees from active duty for department violations/procedures; works directly with operations management and human resources in coordinating disciplinary action in verbal, written and other related disciplinary matters.
- Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet – i.e., smiling, saying “Good Day” or helping when needed.
- Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed
- Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of “The Magic is in the Details”
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To be competitive applicants should have high school diploma or equivalent and significant related experience.
- Prior experience in cleaning and janitorial duties.
- Working knowledge of stage, riser and chair set-up for varied events.
- Previous supervisory experience in a convention center atmosphere a plus.
- Able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights and holidays.
- Assess situations by exercising decision-making authority. Must be able to climb stairs.
- Basic computer skills a plus.
