WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
As a Product Owner for American Red Cross, you will be part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics team that is modernizing and transforming our data and reporting capabilities across multiple verticals, including Biomedical services, by implementing a new modernized data warehouse. Product owners serve as the voice of the customer to guide development teams in building software capabilities with the highest business and customer impact. They represent business needs and priorities, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, and incorporate feedback from business stakeholders to guide continuous product improvement. This Product Owner role requires you to be a natural problem-solver with a strong data technology and analytical background, and an excellent communicator. We are looking for an innovative professional who can easily acquire new business acumen, has experience building data warehousing products, and is passionate about getting it right.
The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States but must work an east coast schedule
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
● Act as the voice of the customer to guide all stages of software development, including user story development, sprint planning, and prioritization of the product backlog.
● Understand business and end-user needs; identify and prioritize features to be delivered to meet those needs.
● Collaborate with the Director of Product Management to develop the long-term roadmap, and create and execute a supporting short-term roadmap within area of responsibility
● Analyze and document existing reporting and data warehousing capabilities used by the business and work with business and technical stakeholders to develop / document user stories and technical data warehouse requirements.
● Lead effort, in partnership with the tech lead(s), to determine the team’s sprint-to-sprint objectives and collaborate with the team to prioritize corresponding stories and tasks during sprint planning.
● Prioritize and maintain the product backlog.
● Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, story refinements, and team retrospectives; ensure the team has a clear understanding of priorities and next steps.
● Lead the sprint review meeting to present the output from the sprint to key stakeholders.
● Analyze feedback from sprint reviews, and other data such as end user feedback and operational metrics, to identify and understand product needs.
● Work with the development team to create acceptance criteria and definitions of failures and done.
● Assist the team on the development of feature tests, test cases, and regression tests.
● Set expectations with business stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities.
● Evaluate systems releases for impact to business processes.
● Work in conjunction with Agile Team Members to prioritize and coordinate software releases and to ensure that development efforts are in alignment with business requirements.

Scope: Individual contributor and acknowledged technical expert both within the organization as well as within other organizations. Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups. Master of a specialized discipline and thorough understanding of a number of disciplines. May also require development of new solutions for complex projects.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: N/A
Skills & Abilities: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to apply technical expertise to resolve problems. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks efficiently. Ability to work on a team. Ability to be 24-hour on-call during period of major disaster.
Travel: Travel may be required.
Skills and Competencies
● Ability to understand complex business problems and identify and interpret business needs.
● Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
● Demonstrated facilitation and influencing skills to drive decision making among stakeholders with diverse perspectives and priorities.
● Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
● Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
* Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

PAY INFORMATION:
The starting annual salary range for this position is $130K - $140K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role.
Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.**
This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.
