You’ll be breaking big stories, holding power to account and telling the human stories that matter to readers across Reading and the wider Berkshire area.

Key Responsibilities
- Generating original story ideas and building contacts in the community.
- Reacting fast to breaking news and publishing coverage online in real time.
- Attending court and council meetings, and producing clear, compelling reports.
- Working with editors to develop content that grows page views and subscriptions.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We’re looking for a reporter who:- Has a sharp news sense and a passion for local journalism.
- Can turn around clean, accurate copy to deadline.
- Is confident covering everything from breaking news and crime to politics, community campaigns and human interest.
- Understands how to write engaging digital stories, headlines and social posts that get people talking.
- Is comfortable using social media, live blogs and video to reach and grow audiences.
