Job Overview: Route Planner The Route Planner is responsible for creating the daily tactical routing and loading plan for the distribution teams in order to maximize efficiencies, while utilizing standard operating procedures in conjunction with accounting for the nuances for individual facilities. Secondarily, they are responsible for providing daily reports to the individual facilities for distribution and loading as well as having daily communication with the individual facility's management and the routing team. This role will be based in either California or Texas Shift and Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday Shift times vary Flexibility to work weekends as needed Position Responsibilities Maintain daily route, customer, and order level information in Descartes Route Planner and SAP systems including customer data, product lists, truck and employee information. Review previous days route plan and gather adjustments to customer and product data Communicate with local teams to confirm availability of trucks and drivers for daily routes. Efficiently plan the pallet building, loading, and routing of daily orders based upon established business rules. Adjust routes to run at the minimum required to provide proper customer service yet effective enough to reduce costs. Recommend requirements for drivers and trucks for the daily volume. Must have DOT regulation knowledge to safely route delivery teams. Ensure all reports are completed and copied to Branch Management and Routing Supervisor within the planning time window for each supported group. Visit branches on a quarterly basis and complete periodic delivery route rides.
