Skip to main contentHomeProfileJob SearchApplicationsMy EventsJoin Talent NetworkSign InSingle PositionView All JobsHybridEngineering Designer – Level 3/4: Design CheckerUnited States-Arizona-Chandler No longer accepting applications.Job IDR10237726The Mechanical Engineering Design team is hiring for an experienced Engineering Designer – Level 3/4: Design Checker to join our within the Launch Systems Unit at our Chandler, AZ facility.This role will work within the Northrop Grumman Design/Drafting group and will be responsible for checking drawing/design packages for proper content and to ensure compliance with applicable industry and military standards.  The Design Checker is a recognized expert in GD&T and will be called upon to resolve interpretation issues on drawings. Essential Functions:Checking designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and economy of fabrication.  This includes review of tolerance analysis, hardware selection and fitment on assembly prints. Verifying 3D models submitted to manufacturing utilizing Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter. Liaison with various engineering disciplines, Manufacturing, Quality, and some vendorsModeling fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter, and create/revise parametric drawings in conformance with ASME modeling and drawing standardsReview drawings with appropriate personnel verifying completed work, checking dimensions, materials and quantities to be usedMechanical modeling using NX managed with TeamcenterCreate/Revise parametric drawings in conformance with ASME 3D modeling and drawing standardsAs requested, may supervise and direct the activities of staffPerform related duties as assigned or requiredTrain other team members on design and drawing practicesBasic Qualifications for Engineering Designer – Level 3:Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3 years of related engineering design experience, or a PhD with 1 years of related engineering design experience, or High School diploma or equivalent, and 9 years additional education and/or related experienceAbility to obtain US DoD Secret security clearanceKnowledge of Word, Excel, Windows, NX and TeamcenterExperience with geometric dimensioning and tolerating (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009Experience with Digital Product Definition Practices per ASME Y14.41Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operationsExperience with Siemens NXWorking knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and MIL-STD-100Ability to work independently as well as in a team environmentComfortable working extended periods of time at a work stationGood communication skills, both written and verbalStrong time management and organizational skillsBasic Qualifications for Engineering Designer – Level 4:Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related engineering design experience, or a PhD with 4 years of related engineering design experience, or High School diploma or equivalent, and 12 years additional education and/or related experienceAbility to obtain US DoD Secret security clearanceKnowledge of Word, Excel, Windows, NX and TeamcenterExperience with geometric dimensioning and tolerating (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009Experience with Digital Product Definition Practices per ASME Y14.41Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operationsExperience with Siemens NXWorking knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and MIL-STD-100Ability to work independently as well as in a team environmentComfortable working extended periods of time at a work stationGood communication skills, both written and verbalStrong time management and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsGDTP Professional Certification Familiar with Industry Standard specifications (NAS, MIL, MS, etc.)Experienced working with DoD programsExperienced with Parts Lists and use of Find...
