Marketplace Operations Lead

Sydney, AustraliaFull-timePosted Jul 31, 2026

About the Role

At Uber, we #GoGetIt, you’ll get to work on challenging problems that require deep strategic thinking to deliver for our customers and make magic in the Uber marketplace. Your work will impact customers here and globally. It could involve building a strategy for targeting high value customers, building a more sustainable future for mobility, and discovering the best way to increase rider engagement through our membership program. This isn’t about cutting and pasting from a playbook, it’s about writing the playbook.

The Marketplace team is the custodian of marketplace health for the whole ANZ region; we are responsible for day-to-day operations (including pricing, incentives and matching) and for providing strategic inputs into forecasting and planning so that we run a healthy marketplace for both drivers and riders across all cities.

We are seeking a senior, highly analytical individual contributor to lead some of our most critical growth and reliability bets. In this role, you will own our Regional cities and growth markets and act as the primary owner of our key marketplace tools (eg. matching, surge, segmentation, and related products).

You will operate with significant autonomy: setting strategy, defining frameworks and trade-offs, and driving alignment execution across Ops, Product, Engineering, Finance and other cross-functional partners. Your work will have a real-world impact, instantly changing the way that people move in cities across ANZ.

What You’ll Do

  • Own marketplace health and growth across all ANZ cities, including defining archetypes, building playbooks, and making investment choices that balance growth, reliability and profitability
  • Act as ANZ subject-matter expert and primary business partner for Marketplace Tech across matching, surge and related products, clarifying business problems and quantifying trade-offs for Product and Engineering
  • Shape the ANZ marketplace tech roadmap: define success metrics and experiment design, influence prioritisation, and ensure that Uber’s marketplace remain best in class
  • Lead high-judgment marketplace decisions that balances key business metrics including reliability, pricing vs experience, and tech rollout vs compliance and cost-per-trip risk, escalating only the most ambiguous calls
  • Own governance and reporting of marketplace health and key business metrics for your scope, synthesising insights and recommendations for the leadership team and senior cross-functional leaders
  • Provide critical inputs into forecasting, pricing and investment decisions, taking into account seasonality, competitive pressure and budget feasibility
  • Design, execute and refine complex, multi-quarter initiatives end-to-end – from problem framing and analysis, to solution design, experiment execution, rollout and post-mortem – while coaching more junior colleagues on approach and frameworks
  • Contribute to the broader ANZ Marketplace and Mobility strategy by acting as a thought partner on marketplace design, engagement and long-term growth topics

What You’ll Need

  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, data analytics, product, high-growth startups, banking or a similarly analytical and strategic environment; marketplace or two-sided platform experience is a plus
  • Exceptionally strong analytical problem-solving skills and comfort with data-heavy topics; ability to go deep on data analysis and structured problem solving for complex business and tech problems. SQL and/or experimentation experience is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to marry data insights with business realities and exhibit sound judgment on marketplace mechanics, including making high-stakes trade-offs with imperfect information
  • Proven experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end with limited guidance, influencing senior stakeholders
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex marketplace and tech concepts for senior non-technical audiences and to frame clear recommendations and trade-offs
  • Highly organised and proactive, with a track record of operating as a self-starter and hands-on operator – quickly testing, iterating and scaling initiatives in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
  • Strong alignment with Uber’s values and a passion for building a sustainable, reliable and fair marketplace for both riders and drivers in ANZ

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward together.
