Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support production operations by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring production uptime while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with USDA/FDA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment
- Diagnose equipment failures and respond quickly to minimize downtime
- Repair or fabricate parts using welders, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other shop equipment
- Install, assemble, and repair machinery, pipe systems, and electrical components
- Troubleshoot electrical systems using schematics, diagrams, and manuals
- Test repairs and installations to ensure proper functionality
- Maintain and repair electrically driven systems, motors, and equipment
- Work with PLC motor controls, VFDs, and ammonia refrigeration systems
- Accurately record maintenance work and parts used in a CMMS system
- Follow all food safety, SQF, and OSHA regulations at all times
- Support continuous improvement and preventative maintenance initiatives
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial environments
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems preferred
- Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or on a team
Education & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Ability to work overtime as needed, with or without notice
Work Environment
- Refrigerated environment (34°F – 45°F)
- Wet, fast-paced food production setting
- Work may be performed indoors and outdoors
Physical Requirements
- Continuous standing and walking throughout the shift
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs; up to 75 lbs with assistance
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to work in a cold, noisy environment and multitask effectively
