Customer Support Specialist
Great support is not about closing tickets. It is about making a customer's problem feel like it just found its owner.
Job Overview
Our UK-based client is hiring a full-time, remote Customer Support Specialist - a sharp, warm communicator based in South Africa who can turn frustrated customers into loyal ones. This is a long-term role with real ownership, working UK business hours as an embedded member of the client's team.
About Our Client
The client is an established UK business with a growing customer base and a simple belief: the support experience is the product. They invest in their support team, give them proper tools and training, and treat the person answering the customer as one of the most important people in the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to customer queries by email, chat and phone quickly, clearly and kindly
- Troubleshoot issues from first contact through to full resolution
- Log every interaction accurately in the helpdesk system so nothing gets lost
- Escalate complex or technical cases with clean, complete handovers
- Track recurring issues and flag patterns to the wider team
- Update help articles and internal knowledge bases as products change
- Follow up proactively so no customer is ever left waiting
What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day
Your day starts in the support queue: reviewing overnight messages, prioritising urgent cases, and clearing responses before mid-morning. You will move between channels - email, live chat and the occasional call - keeping your tone human and your answers precise.
Between conversations you will document solutions, tidy the knowledge base, and hand over anything technical to the right specialist with full context. You will end each day with a clean queue and a short note on anything the team should see coming.
The South African professional who thrives here is patient under pressure, allergic to leaving things unresolved, and quietly proud of a well-handled complaint. You will have targets, but they reward quality of resolution, not speed of deflection.
If you are based in South Africa with excellent written and spoken English and a genuine service mindset, this is a stable remote career move with a UK employer that takes support seriously. Apply today - the queue is waiting for its owner.
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in customer support, service or helpdesk roles
- Excellent written and spoken English with a clear, friendly communication style
- Proven reliability: stable fibre internet, backup power for load shedding, and a quiet home workspace
- Confident with support tech tools: helpdesk platforms (Zendesk, Freshdesk or similar), live chat, and Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
- Calm, patient problem-solver with strong attention to detail
- Self-managed and dependable when working remotely to UK business hours
Benefits
Full-time remote position working for a UK-based employer. Competitive salary paid in ZAR. Long-term stable role. Supportive team environment. Direct access to founder-led business.
