State Street Investment Management (SSIM) Financial Planning and Analysis, VP
This position is for an VP level Finance Professional working in the State Street Investment Management (SSIM) central FP&A team with responsibility for all Management Reporting and Analysis, Forecasting, Budgeting and Strategic Planning for the Chief Business Office.
SSIM, the asset management division of State Street, is one of the largest asset managers globally, with ~$6 trillion in AUM, including over $2 trillion in ETFs.
The role will report to the Managing Director and Head of India Finance for the SSIM Business.
The Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) serves as a strategic finance leader, trusted advisor, and enterprise business partner responsible for driving financial performance, executive decision support, workforce planning, and finance transformation initiatives. This role acts as the primary FP&A partner to the Chief Business Office (CBO) organization while providing leadership, governance, and strategic direction across Business Vertical FP&A teams.
The successful candidate will partner closely with senior business leaders, Finance leadership, Accounting, HR, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, optimize resource allocation, strengthen financial discipline, and support long-term business strategy. This role will play a key leadership position in modernizing FP&A capabilities, enabling data-driven decision-making, and fostering a high-performing finance organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Reporting & Executive Insights
- Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews for executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
- Translate complex financial data into actionable business insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee management reporting, KPI dashboards, variance analyses, executive presentations, and business performance reviews.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses of business trends, operating performance, productivity metrics, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding financial risks, opportunities, and emerging business trends.
- Develop and communicate a clear financial narrative that supports executive and Board-level discussions.
CBO Finance Partnership & Enterprise FP&A Leadership
- Serve as the primary FP&A partner to the Chief Business Office (CBO) organization, providing strategic financial guidance and decision support.
- Partner with CBO leadership to evaluate investments, operating models, productivity initiatives, organizational effectiveness, and business performance outcomes.
- Support enterprise prioritization and capital allocation decisions through rigorous financial analysis and business case development.
- Provide leadership, governance, and advisory support to FP&A teams across all business verticals.
- Drive alignment of planning assumptions, reporting frameworks, performance metrics, and forecasting methodologies across business segments.
- Establish and promote FP&A best practices, ensuring consistency, transparency, and analytical excellence across the broader Finance organization.
- Foster collaboration among Business Vertical FP&A leaders to identify enterprise-wide opportunities, share insights, and drive continuous improvement.
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Strategic Decision Support
- Lead annual budgeting, strategic planning, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Develop sophisticated financial models, scenario analyses, and sensitivity assessments to evaluate strategic initiatives and investments.
- Support business cases, growth opportunities, operating model changes, and organizational restructures through disciplined financial analysis.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend optimization or mitigation strategies.
- Drive forecasting accuracy and enhance planning processes to support strategic decision-making.
Seed Capital Management & Product Analysis
- Lead financial oversight and reporting of seed capital investments across the firm's product platform.
- Monitor capital deployment, utilization, and investment performance.
- Analyze product profitability, revenue trends, margin performance, AUM growth, and capital efficiency.
- Support governance committees and executive leadership through seed capital reporting and product performance analytics.
- Partner with Product, Investment, and Business leadership teams to inform strategic capital allocation decisions.
Finance Transformation, Automation & Digital Innovation
- Lead FP&A modernization initiatives through automation, advanced analytics, and technology enablement.
- Drive process improvements that enhance reporting efficiency, forecasting accuracy, and business insights.
- Establish scalable FP&A operating models and reporting frameworks.
- Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Accelerate adoption of data visualization, automation tools, self-service analytics, and AI-enabled finance capabilities.
Accounting Partnership, Governance & Controls
- Partner closely with Accounting throughout monthly and quarterly close processes to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial results.
- Oversee accruals, expense governance, financial controls, and compliance with corporate policies.
- Ensure robust governance, consistency, and accountability across all FP&A deliverables.
- Support internal and external audit requirements and maintain strong financial control environments.
Executive Partnership & Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives and business leaders across the organization.
- Influence strategic decisions through data-driven insights, financial expertise, and business acumen.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives and enterprise-wide transformation programs.
- Represent Finance in governance forums, executive leadership meetings, and strategic planning discussions.
- Champion an integrated FP&A operating model that strengthens collaboration across Finance, Accounting, HR, Strategy, and business leadership teams.
People Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Provide coaching, leadership, and professional development support to FP&A leaders across business verticals.
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and capability building across the Finance organization.
- Elevate analytical rigor, financial storytelling, executive communication, and business partnership capabilities.
- Promote an inclusive, agile, and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Accounting, Business Finance, Audit, or related disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Advanced degree (MBA or Master's) preferred.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, CMA, CFA, ACCA, or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Experience within Asset Management, Financial Services, Banking, or a highly regulated global organization preferred.
- Strong understanding of asset management economics, investment products, AUM drivers, fee structures, and product profitability preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading strategic planning, executive reporting, business partnering, and finance transformation initiatives.
