Director - Corporate Card Benefits
American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is dedicated to the success of businesses big and small with the vision to be essential to our customers’ businesses every day. Within GCS, the Corporate Card products team designs and operates the corporate-liability Card products that are offered to medium, large and global businesses. These Cards come with best-in-class travel benefits, some executed with the help of partners, as well as B2B-focused benefits that further differentiate Amex Corporate in the marketplace.
The Director of Corporate Card Benefits is responsible for managing and growing the suite of embedded benefits on Corporate Cards. This leader is the primary point of contact for proprietary enterprise benefits such as Centurion Lounge access and partner benefits such as Uber and Hilton. As we continue to assess and update our suite of Corporate Card products, they will lead both the operation of existing benefits and the design of new ones, and serve as the liaison to benefit partners – old and new.
- Lead a high-performing team of colleagues
- Own the strategic vision for new Corporate Card embedded benefits, working in close partnership with leaders in Card Product, Pricing, New Product Development, Business Development, and Strategic Partnerships – these include new partner benefits, access to experiential benefits, and more
- Design net new benefits constructs grounded in customer and prospect understanding, competitive landscape insights, and impact to the Corporate P&L
- Compose partner-facing pitches to secure new benefit value, and represent the Corporate Card business in interactions with key partners – including ongoing performance reviews for partners who move forward
- Work closely with Legal to compose and edit benefits contracts
- Submit and rank Corporate Card Benefits technology investments, and collaborate with Finance and Analytics on cost-benefit analyses
- Oversee implementation of new benefits, and work closely across New Product Development, Tech, Marketing, success measurement partners, and others to launch net new concepts
- Guide project management to introduce new benefits to market – such as notifying Card clients, and steering creative concepts and getting approval for new marketing
- Govern the risk measurement and controls for the benefits owned by the team, and spearhead customer servicing strategy and issue resolution
- Proven people leader with ability to crystallize goals for direct reports, and inspire teamwork
- Customer-first mentality with previous experience in Card benefits – or relevant parallel experience in user experience design, software features development, partnership management, etc.
- Operations mindset and appetite for multi-platform processes; curiosity to learn and improve these
- Flexible, creative problem-solver who puts structure around complex issues
- Communication excellence, both visual/written and verbal; executive presence and comfort in front of audiences of all levels of seniority, both internal and external to American Express
- Facility for stakeholder management; ability to communicate vision to varied group of stakeholders, building collaboration and partnership
- Proactive and positive attitude, dedication to building team culture of learning, growth, and development
