Position Summary:
Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Manufacturing Technician to join our dynamic Preclinical operations team. Our Manufacturing Technician is an entry-level laboratory professional responsible for supporting the production, testing, and release of media, collagen plating, and buffer solutions in a regulated laboratory environment. This role follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform laboratory processes, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, document results, and ensure product quality and compliance standards are met. The Manufacturing Technician works closely with team members to analyze data, perform peer reviews, maintain accurate records, and support continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
A Day in the Life of a Manufacturing Technician I at Discovery Life Sciences:
- Execute hands-on manufacturing activities supporting the production of biologically derived products, including cell-based, tissue-based, and protein-based workflows.
- Perform aseptic processing, cell culture, tissue handling, and biological material preparation in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
- Prepare buffers, reagents, media, and process solutions while maintaining accurate documentation and material traceability.
Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
- Associate’s degree or higher level of education in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- 0-1+ years of hands-on experience in a life sciences laboratory, working knowledge of laboratory processes (centrifuges, spectrophotometer, pipettes, etc.)
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Knowledge and working experience of computers and MS Office products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and test media, collagen plating, and buffer solutions according to SOPs.
- Operate laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and pipettes.
- Collect, analyze, and document laboratory data to support product quality and release activities.
- Execute procedures as written and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Perform peer reviews to ensure data and documentation accuracy.
- Identify and report deviations, discrepancies, or unusual results to supervision.
- Utilize Microsoft Office and quality systems to maintain documentation and records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment using Lean and 5S principles.
- Complete assigned tasks within established timelines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits:
Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $50,000 - $67,000 annually. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. Your annual salary is only one part of your total compensation package. Other benefits include:

Location, work hours, and application details:
- Onsite – Woburn, MA Location
- Monday - Friday, start time between 7am and 9am local time
- This is a temp to hire position. The candidate selected will be benefit eligible and evaluated after 6 months for continued employment.
