In this role, you will primarily perform Manufacturing quality inspections as part of the Manufacturing Engineering team and work cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering, Corporate Quality, and Supplier Quality within Zoox. You will use your technical background and various quality gages & tools to perform quality inspections on a vehicle level in General Assembly and End of Line. You will record any non conformities identified and may further support triage and root cause analysis of these concerns and communicate critical information to quality, process engineering, operations and Repair teams. In this role, you will:

  • Perform in line quality inspections in General Assembly and End of Line
  • Read technical drawings in CAD to understand part design and intended assembly
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to facilitate triage and root cause analysis
  • Validate approved Reworks completed by Repair team meet Zoox's high quality standards
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to identify and communicate trends
  • Create and update quality documents
  • Develop training plans for inspection, quality standards, and quality alerts
  • Facilitate Factory Gate process by verifying quality documentation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a quality technician
  • Ability to look up and read technical specifications in CAD
  • Broad technical background in mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with triage, Root cause analysis and implementing containments
  • Ability to read PFMEA, Control Plans and inspection documents

Bonus Qualifications:

  • A.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of technician experience in high volume automotive manufacturing
  • Experience with MES, SAP, Ignition Systems
  • Basic understanding of GD&T principles
  • Experience interpreting Metrology reports
