Location: Remote-India

Shift: 3:00PM IST – 12:00AM IST

Role Description:

We are looking for Senior People Generalist to join the ShipBob India People Strategy & Operations team as the execution engine of our People Operations function. This role is the first line of delivery across the India employee lifecycle — handling HRIS administration, compliance, benefits, onboarding, offboarding, and employee experience with accuracy, speed, and care.

The Sr. People Generalist works within defined frameworks and processes, executes with precision, and escalates thoughtfully. While the PS&O team designs and owns strategy, the Sr. People Generalist ensures that strategy becomes reliable, high-quality delivery on the ground.

This role is a strong fit for someone who takes genuine pride in operational excellence, builds trust through follow-through, and is growing toward a career in HR operations or generalist people work in a fast-paced tech environment. This role reports to Senior Manager HRBP.

What you’ll do:

HR Operations, Compliance & Data

  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date employee records across the HRIS and all People systems (employment profile changes, T&A, employment paperwork) — proactively flagging and fixing data discrepancies.
  • Processing employment, confirmation, and employment verification letters, and processing approved compensation changes with accurate documentation retention.
  • Administering the XOXO voucher process and supporting the SPIFF reward program.
  • Supporting India benefits administration in coordination with carriers and Finance, and assisting with accurate Provident Fund, Pension Scheme, and other statutory filings.
  • Owning audit readiness — performing periodic audits of HR files and records, maintaining compliance postings, and assisting with statutory audit preparation as directed.
  • Monitoring completion of compliance and COE-assigned trainings, following up with employees and managers to ensure timely closure, and supporting POSH training logistics.
  • Running standard People reports and supporting the HRBPs with data extraction and formatting for leadership decks and dashboards.

Employee Lifecycle & Performance

  • Facilitating the PS&O segment of ShipBob University (new hire orientation), educating joiners on benefits, policies, and HR processes.
  • Conducting new hire connects at defined intervals and tracking probation and confirmation timelines, flagging upcoming deadlines to the HRBPs.
  • Supporting the end-to-end offboarding process for all exits (PSC ticket, checklist, HRIS update, payroll notification, exit coordination), including exit interview logistics and data collation, and sharing findings with the HRBPs.
  • Supporting the HRBPs with performance management processes and outcome tracking (warnings, PIPs, APR ratings), including related manager communications and documentation.
  • Helping employees navigate career-planning resources and escalating development conversations to the HRBPs as appropriate.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serving as the first point of contact for employees and front-line managers on queries and concerns — resolving routine matters directly and escalating complex or sensitive matters to the HRBPs.
  • Supporting the HRBPs on ER investigations when assigned, maintaining strict confidentiality throughout, and maintaining the India ER log and AllVoices tracking including resolution timelines.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of employee engagement activities, recognition programmes, and India Culture Committee coordination.
  • Preparing engagement survey materials, slide decks, and employee communications; creating and maintaining ShipBob Connect Help Articles and internal HR pages.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of training content in collaboration with the HRBPs and OED.

AI & Process Innovation

  • Leveraging AI tools such as Claude and Replit to work smarter across People Operations — drafting, reporting, content creation, data analysis, and everyday workflows.
  • Identifying repetitive or manual processes and proposing (or building) AI-assisted and automated solutions in partnership with the PS&O team.
  • Supporting the adoption, maintenance, and improvement of AI-enabled People tools used by the India team, such as internal portals and dashboards.
  • Staying current on emerging AI capabilities relevant to HR operations and sharing learnings with the team.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in Human Resources, HR Operations, or a generalist people role.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (ADP or equivalent); comfortable learning new systems quickly.
  • Solid understanding of India HR compliance basics — Provident Fund, POSH & Labour code regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a track record of accurate, timely execution across multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to handle sensitive situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Proficient Excel skills; passionate about leveraging AI, comfortable running reports, formatting data, and supporting analysis.
  • Can-do attitude — picks up new tasks quickly, follows through without being chased, and escalates at the right moment.
  • High integrity and confidentiality.
  • Can quickly establish rapport and trusting relationships.
  • Able to take action, even with ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to deliver a training solution as and when required.
  • Ability to handle and manage matters effectively.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Medical, Term & Accidental Insurance
  • All Purpose Leave (casual & sick time): 12 days
  • Earned Leave: 15 days
  • Public Holiday: 12 days
  • Generous Maternity & Paternity Leave
  • Quarterly Wellness Day
  • Work From Home Allowance
